New Premier League Anthem

The Premier League has recorded a new anthem for the forthcoming season. Composed by Peter Lawlor it will be played at the beginning of every league game where the players shake hands.

I suppose its a grower.

Hear it at Peter Lawlor's MySpace page.

Peter Lawlor's MySpace page

Edit: It is called "My Saturday Self" which is a laugh as we shall play most of our games on a Sunday!

Peter Lawlor said on his blog:

"From the start of next season every premiership team will perform the "Handshake" ceremony to this track.

Also all around the world, the track will be the theme music for all Premiership tv programmes.

We had an amazing time recording the track in Abbey Road 2, On Bass my good buddy Johnathan Noyce, On drums the astonishing Smiley Barnard, my old compardre Levine Andrade led the strings.

Levine's CV is astonishing: Led Zep, ELO, The Ardetti Quartet etc etc

Daryl Griffiths conducted brilliantly.

I am mixing the long version at the moment and will stick it on the site when its done.

The Premier League chaps are going to take us all the a well known Stadium near Stretford to hear the track playing on the first day of the Season....I really can't wait!

To hear the track banging out in front of 76,000 people will be an unbelievable experience!

oh yeh, Pete Murray played a bit of piano as well"

COYS!

Don't see the point in having a 'song' for the 'handshake ceremony' plus i like the music spurs already have, this doesn't compare and is a bit shite to be honest. Not convinced it will standard for 'every' game either?! We'll have to wait and see, but i'm thinking it's more like a jingle for MOTD or some other BBC show. If it is then he's hit the jackpot!! He's probably loaded anyway judging by his CV.

Yeah right, ONE man chooses what music the WHOLE WORLD play on their OWN channels?

And EVERY club HAS to play this?

I don't think so pal!

Taxi for Peter!

Is it the All That I know song that automatically plays on his page? If it is I'm baffled. Surely you would want a rousing exciting tune, not some whiney poncy wimpy song like that!

its not even that its a load of crap, I think the title is all wrong too. Surely it should be my ready when the premierleague, sky or setanta say so self. Spurs hardly had a saturday game last season. If it wasnt due to Europe which is obviously understandable then it was TV people telling us what to do!

as long as the spurs song that is played when the players are coming out then they can play whatever they like but for sure it will kill the atmosphere and the intimidation our song produces

Which song is it on the myspace site? The 1st one that plays, as the site loads?

I personally like the old 1, why change it? Perhaps because it's been around for some time now...

Why don't Spurs have the Pirates Of The Carribean tune (He's A Pirate). That would really get our hearts pumping! Although the one we have is more than good enough, especially the intro...

When do The Who want their guitar riff back? Is it just on loan for the season or is Lawlor looking to tie up a permanent move???

It's also refreshing to see that, no matter what website you visit, no matter which clubs message board, you can always met a Hammers fan making a tosser out of themselves.

It's kind of reassuring in a strange kind of way. 9.36, give me a hug.

Don't see what was wrong with the existing premier league anthem - it was stately and histoic and bought a lump to my throat every time I heard it. The new one is too commercial and to be honest crap.
