Has Jol already been sacked?

Rumours flying all over the place are saying that Jol has gone already. Could be rubbish but could be true. But also with those rumours is the idea that Jol has been fired with no one in place! Ramos is apparently mulling the deal over - what happens if he turns us down? Harry Redkrapp?

Levy out.

COYS!

Redknapp would be a nightmare. My dad played golf with him and he said he was offered the job in the winter before Jol turned it around, I think he fancied it but didn't feel he could walk out on Pompey again but it shows the board rate him.

I seriously hope we have someone else in place. Bring on Capello!

on what grounds
he's sacking him, if he does, because as chels did with ranieri, he's getting someone to take us to the next stage - thanks for getting us to 5th Jol if you go, but too many games and pointage thrown away

hope he has been sacked , no idea
about midfield , plays to many out
of position , pisses off the strikers and has no man management
or coaching skills. needs to take
the whole team with him except
clive who should take over until
a new man gets here.

Every successful manager in th PL has been given time. It took Fergie 7 years at Man Utd. When Jol cam in he said that he needed 3 - 5years - give him that, he has done better than anyone else in recent years.
I can not believe the board would consider this move. We need some stability, for once we have it.

I fear Daniel Levy will be selling and Paul Kemsely will be the new chairman.

I can't see how Jol can stay, we have clearly gone after another manager and been caught doing it.

Get who you like in as manager but unless one of the other four teams above us for the last two years have a nightmare we will still finish fifth at best they have better players throughout their squads.

Levy is overstepping the mark here, he signs cheques, Jol got us to fifth not him!

Taken us as far as he can; agreed. Is it wise to cut ship during season? Is it worse to keep the shite descion-making in place resulting in no CL spot? Or is it early enough still to make a change? Tough call to make for Levy. Jol is average tactician, at best. Never did rate him...its the palyers we have that have ultimately taken us to fith place(s).

I think it is absolutely shocking the way Jol has been treated.
I love Martin Jol, but, equally, I was frustrated to say the least with the way we sat back for the last 10 mins at Sunderland, and, did I ever beleive that Martin Jol would be the man to crack the top 4? Not really. I thought maybe Martin could win us the Coca Cola Cup, if that still what its called, and I rather fancied him to take us on a decent run in the UEFA Cup too. Truth, in my opinion, is that we were never defensively sound under Jol. 60odd goals conceded last season, only 3 clean sheets in the previous 33, not really good enough to crack the top 4. Arguablly, signing Kaboul and Bale and the likely return of King as well as keeping hold of Chimbonda may well have improved all of that. But by the looks of things, the board, with all of there wisdom have lost confidence and are looking for swift progress, possibly to cash in on Spurs - Who knows?? One thing I do know is that following this club is a rollercoaster.
Last thing though, I do think Ramos would be capable of cracking the top 4 with our squad, I just hope the board have done the deal properly before letting Jol go. I cant see how they can do anything other than this to take us forward now. Good Luck and thanks Martin Jol

The reason we conceded so many goals is not because of our defence, its the same reason why sometimes we dont score, or hold the ball etc - our midfield.
If it is all ture that Comoli sanctions the transfers then surely its not Jol's fault that we have only ever stregthened its positions we are strong?
Who's at fault for not replacing carrick or not having left sided players?

Rumours, Whispers, I know someone who knows someone....what a load of crap!

Maybe the press should be on Fergie's case - 2 draws and a loss - definitely a case for getting the sack!!!

Once again just as Tottenham start to get it together over a short period of time, the club commits suicide with the help of the media and some of it's "fans".

How loud do you think the gooners are laughing?

i just want to say that martin jol has done wonders so far taking us to 2 consecutive 5th places, but i think he doesnt have the right mentality and tactics to take us any further.he is not able to win a big match and always has a few players that he favours. i know jj was man of the match against derby but what did he do against sunderland and everton? he should change his tactics depending on the team we are playing. lets look at sven and how he was able to field a team capable of beating man u. i just think he ramos is more suitable for bringing further success to our club.
i also believe that hughton is one to blame by not suggesting these changes to jol

Agreed we've slipped up ealry doors but lets get things into perspective here... We're 3 games in, above Man United and at the end of the day any defence containing Gardner, Stalteri and Rocha is going to be a shambles.

Any successful team today needs a solid defence, and until ours are fit then Jol stands little chance, simple.

Personally I think its criminal that we even should be considering a new man this early on but I agree with Jima, if it turns out to be another Ranieri/Mourihino scenario then fair enough.

Still think we should cut him some slack

I think it's time someone from the club came out and stood up for the manager, so that all this rubbish about Jol being sacked can be forgotten about and the club can concentrate on winning football matches again... It's a complete outrage that he's been under pressure in the first place!!! Two consecutive 5th placed finishes and the most exciting team at the lane since the 90's the board would be a disgrace to let him go!

Be careful what you wish for. Levy hasnt got us anywhere on the pitch. He's appointed 4 managers and only Jol has had any degree of success. Every SPurs manager for the last 2- - 30 years has spent money and only Jol has brought us any degree of consistency. Check the stats - the best manager for years. So be careful what you wish for cos it could come true

Easy guys, Jol has done wonders and I don't want to see him go anywhere but lets not also forget Levy has also put a hell of a lot of money into this club and to be fair we're turning on our own club because a couple of red top writers have decided they've got nothing better to do other than write a load of rubbish and stir things up.

Why don't we just get behind the club as a whole. We have just spent £40 mil on players lots of quality is in the treatment room and we've just come off the back of a 4 - 0 win. Lets try and look on the positive side of life.

Only an idiot would want Jol out. I'm quite disappointed to hear that the Spurs upper management are that bad. Even if they had wanted Ramos, the timing is horrific, guaranteeing we do not get a CL spot this season.

Would Wenger be sacked because he dropped points without van Persie, Gallas, Toure, Clichy, Rosicky and 4 others? Would Mourinho be sacked without Terry, Alex, Carvalho, Cole, Bridge, Malouda Drogba and 2 others? Those are the equivalent players to who we are missing or were missing. We've funded managers forever, and when one finally gets us above 8th and we sack him ... LOL how stupid can we get?

The club has invested in some top new players and Jol needs to given a chance to show that he can do the job. His record against the Big 4 this season should determine his future. The games against Seville, Arsenal and Chelsea did seem to indicate that he was missing a beat. He might claim he did not have the right players. Well he now has far less of those excuses. So for now, stick with Jol

are you all f*ing crazy - taken us as far as he can - where is the proof of that????? based on 3 games this season - that is ludicrous!!! last season he took us further than the previous - in the last 15 leage games he has recorded 9 wins, 3 losses and 3 draws - 27 points - that is top 4 standard - which i may add we only finished 8 points off despite playing a s**t load of games more than out north london rivals.

how can you say he wont take us any further - I WANT PROOF - this whole season is a test for that -

Daniel levy is notthe reason for the clubs recent success - all you blind fools forget that he games usbefore Jol - Jaques Santini was a genuis appointment wasnt he?? - Arnesen found Jol, not Mr Levy... Just because he gave us money doesnt make him a mastermind. he players came to u because of martin - they want him there - watch the first goal celebrations from derby again

get a clue fans calling for the head of jol - you obviously dont know the fistthing about football

Do you mean the goal celebrations where steed runs straight past Jol to zakora snubbing him in the process , i suggest you watch it again , your blind loyalty is commendable but is jol really the way forward ? i personally think he has lost us more games than he has one us from the sidelines over the past two seasons, you say he's better than previous dross , but that is because we generally buy better players than ever before which he has had the fortune of having, imo most managers would get us top 6 not a problem with the squad we have and a lot of managers have far less to work with, he pretty much gets eaten alive buy the top 4 managers ,has negative tactics which cost us(cup games last season anyone?)dodgy team selections, favourite, un droppable players and this has nothing to do with the first 2 games this year , its the same mistakes being repeated over and over again, the bloke only got the job by being in the right place at the right time, he has taken a lot of people in imo, he's a nice bloke but we need a winner ,proven and some one that can stand up to the top 4, be brave , be possitive and take a chance now and again. nice guys finish last

after reading the thing on the spurs website i think its good that jol knows what to do. i was sick of all his were not as good as the top 4,excuse ,excuse! its ok to go for it and fail than to just be happy with 5th all the time(insert bill nik quote) , its not unrealistic its achievable if everyone works together for the same thing which by the sound of things hopefully they now are

fly on the wall:
levy: So Martin all set for the season what are your asspirations for the team??
jol: well i think top 8 would be good , alot of teams have improved you know!
levy:well martin taking into account our last two consecutive 5th place finishes and substantial backing, and improved squad ,we were actually hoping to go one better and get 4th this year
jol: errrrrm..........top 6????
levy: no sorry Martin we need to be aiming for 4th this year!
jol: but you know ...how many of our players would get into the top 4 squads?
levy: well arguably king, chimbonda, maybe dawson, juve wanted kaboul, lennon, berbatov, defoe maybe... martin we need to go for fourth!
jol: wouldnt it be great if we could get 5th again but maybe beat arsenal along the way eh!!
levy : there are other managers out there who would be possitive and imaginitive with our playing staff and see our club with prob the best young potential in england and therefore would embrace the challenge of breaking the top 4, we are only asking for one place higher and we are better now yes?
jol: Well of course when you put it like that mr levy , i think its just and right that we should aim for the top 4 and i will do everything in my power to acchieve this!
levy: great!

What short memories some fans have! Remember where we were b4 Jol came along. It was MJ who gave Carrick, Dawson and Lennon a run in the team and it was MJ who got us playing decent football again. Remember the dross under Santini!

Sure MJ has made mistakes: not signing a quality left-sided player, negative tactics away from home, playing Stalteri & Gardner - not playing Hudderstone enough or having Tarrabt on the bench against Sunderland, subbing Berba against Cheaski in the cup. But we've now got stability and now have a seriously strong squad compared to what MJ inherited. Finally, it's a myth that Levy has spent lots of money. We're only spending the increased TV money this year and in previous years MJ has balanced the books - remember we got £18 mill for Carrick. I only hope we move some of the deadwood on as that seems to be a perennial problem for us. Murphy, Ghaly, Gardner, Tanio, Stalteri should all be moved on and spend the dosh on Pedersen.

he's made more mistakes than that but still, i pray to god he can learn from the mistakes because if he doesnt we will never go nowhere , its a fine line between winning and losing and to date he's always ended a loser when it really matters ,thats the facts. i think that was the main problem it wasnt losing the first two games it was same mistakes over and over , its learn now or bye and to me thats fair enough. he needs to be much braver and positive, also stop playing fav players to the detroment of the team ,its a simple game , why play rocha through pre season at left back then play stalteri at left back at sunderland, then drop rocha completely and play gardner who didnt really play pre season, y let tarrabt play well all pre season then not in the squad for real games lucky hes a confident lad eh! y play keane right wing just to have him on the pitch? why move jj to right back just to keep him on the pitch, he needs to get a grip on that sort of shit! will he learn? i hope so, only time will tell

I agree MJ does seem to have his favourites and he has got tactics wrong too many times. Why play Keane right wing against Everton when Routledge was on the bench? Why start 4-3-3 against a team that plays 4-5-1?

I also thought He could have started with Defoe against Derby instead of Keane. At the very least he could have given Defoe 45mins as we were 3-0 up to boost he's confidence.

Don't normally get involved in this, but it is clear Jol has had a target of finishing 4th this season.

Look at all the quotes coming out of the club pre season - we're good enough for 4th.

All the new manager stuff is pure speculation from press who want an easy story. Jol is there for the season, he has prob. been set a target of getting 4th, everyone has targets in their job and that is his. He has been backed by £40m why would he be sacked 3 games into a season?

If we are not in a position to challenge come christmas, if we do not get 4th spot things might be different but until then he is Tottenham manager.

As for he's done nothing for the club get real, he's taken us to 5th 2 seasons in a row before Jol came we had no consistency - 5th 2 seasons in a row is a vast improvement on where we have been, yes I have been disappointed by the start but it's only 3 games in, we have our best players to come back into the side, things are good at Spurs.

Get behind the team and see where we finish, let BMJ be judged on his results not on a whim!

Jol was always seen as first team coach when santini was appointed and still is in the eyes of the board. He is great with people and motivating them.
He has had problems with tactics but could turn that around. You could end up with a manager who is great tactically but can't hold togther such a large squad. Ideally we would have had a new replacement for santini and Jol would have had 2 3 years under
them.
