Citeh Vs. Spurs

Spurs travel to Eastlands for the 3pm Sunday kick off still looking for an away league goal from open play and an away league win. In Europe we cannot stop scoring away from home and putting in good performances and we need to start doing that away from home in the Premiership. Sticking with 4-4-2 and dropping the cautious approach is necessary as a squad and team like we have currently are much better than the majority of teams we face, and better than the one we face today.

Citeh have a good home record and don't concede many. However, they don't score many either and have had four 0-0 draws at home so far this season. However, if we can get Lennon into the sort of positions he got into against Charlton then we should unlock the door today and I am backing Berbatov to pick up his first away league goal this season today. Being able to play with Defoe for a few games will help the partnership understanding and they both looked impressive on Thursday and last Staurday. Apparently Dawson is supended, although there is no mention of it on the Spurs site. If so Davenport will play alongside King, the first time he has had the opportunity to this season. Lee will probably be recalled on the left with the excellent Chimbonda on the right. I think Lennon will start wide right, with Steed on the left trying to stretch the Citeh back four. However, Lennon showed he can be vertisile and could well appear behind the back two like last weekend. Huddlestone will continue in the middle with Ghaly alongside. Up front will be Berbatov and Defoe.

Dawson has recieved 4 yellow cards in the league and one in the carling cup so he is suspended. Otherwise agree and let lee carry on at left back but why ghaly? Let murphy get those tackles in and when he gets tired bring on ghaly or davids. Bench to be: cerny, mido, stalteri, ghaly, davids.
This is a must win as we have to break our duck at some point & newcastle will be tough enough without the fact that we won't have won away by then. coys

Does anyone know why Lennon is not in the team or bench today? I'm guessing he picked up a late injury. Hope it is nothing serious. We have a lot of midfielders injured or suspended at the moment. Is a bit of a concern. Also, I'd rather see Gardner in the team ahead of davenport today. I just don't rate Davenport at all.

Great win. Understandably tired at the end, having played mid-week, but great to hang on and get a much needed win away from the Lane!

Boy oh boy, Hud is looking better and better. What a goal! He can pass like Carrick, but I must say, Michael ain't never gonna score a cracker like that one today!

Question: Why was O'Hara on the bench? No Davids (must still be nursing that eye problem), or Murphy? Also no Ekotto on the bench? Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

As long as we have two from Lennon, Huddleston & Malbranque I don't think Spurs will be short of goal scoring opportunities.

We created more chances today than city today & they're a team that's hard to score against let alone beat at home.

So...?

Happy with our first win on the road but not happy with the usual frailities.

We are are almost like Sven's England "Good in the first half, not so good in the 2nd".

When Pearce changed to a 3-5-2, Chimbonda was having so much problem .The inevitable happens.Davenport forced wide right when chim got outmanned. As Lee move into central defence to cover,Barton find himself totally free on the left to whack the ball in.

The signs were there; Jordan getting more and more influntial on City left but we did nothing to stem it.

We should gotton Ghaly to track Jordan while Lee on the other side showed that he just don't cut it defensively.King have to cover for him on numerous ocassions.

Hud is real big plus.(Carrick who?).Hopefully, Man U don't come back and offer another 18mil.

18 mil bollocks! He's worth 25 minimum already. In 2 or 3 years he'll be better than viera and an England regular.

Stop slagging off Davenport. We've turned down at least 2 offers for him while he was on loan and some papers made him man of the match against city. He's growing in confidence and is getting better than Gardener who I've always thought was ok.

Neither Lee or Assou-Ekotto are good enough and I hope come january we find someone who's talents match the rest of the back 5.

Top 4 by new year anyone?

Merry Christmas.

Dont' get ahead ourselves with Hudd.He still have to achieve the consistency to match the likes of Fabregas. But at least we can live in hope that we have an equally big talent if not not bigger in our side to match them.He is English too.

Areas he can improve; pressing the opponent and breaking up attacks; something at the moment Carrick is stil better.Watch Carrick at Man U now.

Agreed that we should find another left back.I can't see W bridge coming here. But I have a sneaky feeling the likes of G Barry will do a fantastic job for us even better than Bridge. Some mention leighton baines.I put him only as a maybe. How about that boy at Southhamton, G Bales, how good is he ?

According to reports on the lad, Bale should be the prefered option but manure are also keeping tabs and half a dozen others probably. He's much sought after.

'surrey yid u clearly arnt a season ticket holder like me who has seen the majority of our gaols created by lennon this year'

What a patronising comment made by what must be a narrow minded twat. I have supported Spurs since a boy of 7 in 1980, lived through the good and the bad, usually manage at least 15 games a season, and for those i cannot get to nowadays i do happen to have Sky Sports TV, and Internet streaming of all live games wherever thay play in the world even if not on UK telly, so dont give me all that bullshit 'u clearly arnt a season ticket holder' crap, like that is the only way i can see how we scored our goals. I devote as much time as most to support Spurs so dont be such a clever prick with comments like that.

FYI...I am well aware what Lennon brings to the team, but he has a long way to go before he is the finished artcicle, but he has so much promise thats wy we are all so excited. We have been far more creative in the last 10-15 games league and cup than we were at any stage last season, so dont think this is just Lennon. The SQUAD is settling nicely, and doing it at last - THANK GOD!
