Rubbish!

I could think of more words to describe our performance today but I don't want a ban from News Now! Quite frankly, the perfromance, especially in the second half was appalling. Absolutly dreadful. In fact, fucking crap!

We started ok, created a few chances but even when we had Reading under pressure individuals were still making too many mistakes. Ghaly misplaced 5 passes in the first 10 minutes and generally looked shite all game. However he did win the penalty for Keane to finish. We then tried to push on and could have had a couple more but the failure to close down Reading's left back allowed him to take a long shot into Robinson's far corner. Once again he was beaten there - I have only seen it live once so I cannot say for sure if it was an error on his part but long shots do seem to be our undoing at the moment.

The second goal was a joke. The marking was pathetic and the whole of the defensive unit was unorganised. From controlling the game to being behind in about 10 minutes! We never recovered.

In the second half the performance just fell apart. We never looked like scoring until it was too late. Ghaly got worse, Lennon was unable to make any inroads, Berbatov had to keep dropping deeper and deeper as we were unable to break down a well organised back four. Jenas did not look too bad but he did not look too good either although I felt he gave a shit, unlike some of the other players in a Spurs shirt. Keane kept turning into trouble while Zokora was subbed for not doing much wrong. Benny boy looked out of his depth even though he was great last week and Lee was all over the place.

Once again, Spurs failed to capatlise on our good work last week. The away record is dismal with two goals, one from the spot and one an own goal. We have not scored in open play away from home in the league this season and that will kill our season dead if it continues. Our home form is good, our european form is excellent but away from home we get turned over by the shit. Having now played two of the promoted teams away from home we have taken 1 solitary point from them. It should be six and we have blown a great chance to push on up the table to where we should be. it needs sorting out and it needs sorting our fast. We must win at Blackburn or a top five finish will seem more remote than ever.

However Jol should rest Berbatov, Keane had 0 shots for 90 minutes?? What the hell is that?
Lennon - 0 damn shots?
WTF? MANSION ANYONE? 1X2?

What's the matter with you half witted twats! Spurs played Reading off the park for the 1st 40 minutes, and apparently had 70% of the possession in the second. I bet last week you were singing from the rooftops. We've had a decent unbeaten run and the game today was just 1 game too many in a busy schedule. Sure, our performance wasn't the best but Reading were well organised and determined to hold on to their lead. I can accept that we have a lot of work to do to get to that next level, but we are heading in he right direction, and I have total confidence in our management team. From a personal point of view, I would give Cerny a bit more of a chance because I don't think that Robinson is in top form at the moment. Lee isn't up to it, and Zokora hasn't been the same since his bout of Malaria. We have a lot to be positive about though, so stop whinging and get behind your team!

lets face facts - 1 defeat in 11 games. the way we lost was more of an issue imo. no heart, desire or fight - except jenas. after they went 2-1 up we just didnt seem to care. not good enough spurs. jol will sort them out - dont worry.

My two cents... while he tries hard, it is time for the Jenas experiment to come to an end. Huddlestone-Zokora should be the combo, with Hudd in the holding role and Zokora taking Jenas' position. Hudd solidifies the back 4, where as we get the true box to box player in Didier that Jenas is not and will never be. Put him on RW, but Hudd and Zokora are clearly our two oustanding central midfielders.

The reason why Keane and Berba got only two shots is because the fockin midefielders didnt create any.

If Jol had any balls he'd bench Jenas, but he is scared because Levy personally brought him in, even though we did not need him (Mendes anyone?).

And Levy should get some balls and realise Jol is a great motivator but horrible tactician.

My take on yesterday's defeat:

1. We missed chimbonda. To be fair to Lee, he's just got back into the EPL and so not 100%.

2. We started well but faded after maybe 30-40 mins. Lethargy had set in. Typically, bad decision making by players when passing combined with not enough off the ball running by players into spaces. Also many stray passes after the 1-hour mark.

Dawson was especially affected by 120 mins of Port Vale. Berbi, Lennon & Ghaly also looked a bit tired from the start.

3. There was also some complacency/arrogance after the penalty lead. We were contented to play keep-ball without going beyond the final 3rd. In contrast with Reading, they kept on piling the pressure after their equaliser, hence their 2nd goal.

4. Despite lifting the mental barrier of beating Chelsea, we have now developed another barrier i.e. playing away from home. Still no goals from open play. And zero wins so far.

Those having a go at Jenas - get a life - he is a good player well worth his place in the team . Look at the 2 full backs who can not defend - Zokora who is still settling in to English Football . I would play Huddlestone . Ledley is obviously carrying an injury . For some reasons the forwards can not score in the Premiership . Defoe has missed chance upon chance for the last 12 months and still people feel he should start ( amazing )

Re; midfield discussion.

I'd go for Malbranque infront of Big Tom. Lennon right and Murphy, Ghaly or Davids on the left.

Lots of overreaction. Par for the course. We always have at least one game like this each year. Didn't stop us last season though. If we go on another eight or nine games unbeaten we'll be fine. Worst one I remember (I think) was late nineties when we needed to beat sheffield(utd or wed) who were bottom of the prem and we would've gone from 9th to 4th place just before christmas.

We lost 6-0. This reading game was an improvement.

IMO Jol should've rested some of the more tired players vs Reading and started the likes of Davids, Murphy and Ziegler, who may all have been up for the scrap.

So now Lennon has pulled out of ENG v HOLLAND with injury.. as has Jenas The latter means Jol has been spared from dropping him, as now Hud can take his place without ruffling any feathers! Malbranque will also be a welcome addition vs Blackburn as Ghaly gives the ball away too cheaply for me.

jenas needs to be dropped now. yes, he works hard but where is the end product? what does all this work amount to? nothing, that's what. he's the master of the 5-yard pass, either sideways or backwards, offers no creativity, has a lack of defensive abilities, and cannot finish for shit. fine, he will make the 50 yard run to get into position but then bottle it. he is a bottler and maybe his mental side is the problem. he doesn't have footballing intelligence like huddlestone or ghaly (who has produced more incisiveness this season than jenas has since he joined us). people need to stop talking about jenas' "potential" as they were back at newcastle and realise he is now meant to be coming into the best years of his life.

Davids

Mido
Keane

Will Robbo be made to start EVERY league game? Why won't Jol rest him or drop him for a game when he is out of form? Too many long shots and set piece headers beating him this season IMO. He can pull off the spectacular save to keep his team in a game, but more often this season than in past seasons, he has let in bad goals, sapping his teamates' confidence.

Like Robbo, Jenas (while one of the few fighters vs Reading) has been a dissapointment since joining. Aside from that free kick goal against Manure eons ago he's done nothing. I'd rather see any other midfielder in his place (ie. Tainio -- when healthy, Hud, Ghaly, Murphy or even Davids -- who has yet to start a game in a Spurs shirt in his prefered CM position)!

I love Jol, and will always back him, but c'mon oh hairless one, have the balls to drop a starter if he's underperforming.

come on now fellow spurs fans - let's be honest about Jol - nice bloke , media friendly , popular with others in the game - dim coach.

Quality coaches change things -look at O'Neil at Aston Villa with a squad worth 50 pence compared to our own if you want an example.
Spurs were shite away last season - remember Grimsby town and Leicester City ?- and will be shite away this season - and there is always an excuse - Jol has now started resorting to blaming , publicly , individual players in post match interviews to get himself out of the shit - poor management.Jol will not be manager of spurs this time next season - its just a just such a frigging pain that we have to, once again, wait and endure what is the obvious and inevitable conclusion.

All opinions allowed 'offtheshelf' but yours don't appear to make much sense given that it was the same Martin jol who was in charge of the team which beat chelski and make the changes which created the turnaround. Your argument only really works if we just look at one bad game in isolation. Which by definition I reckon, makes you 'fickle'. I bet you sang to a different tune when we beat the blues right? Or were you the only Yid on the country saying; "oh yeah it was a good win but Martin Jol's not good enough and we'll lose to reading".
