Much, much better! Gave the ball away abit but other than that a solid performance (helped by a dodgy penalty)! Zokora was excellent!

how you feeling you gutless twat?

so much better peformance than thursday night. the one thing back in abundance was fight. so often last season we ground out results, first team this season.

2 reasons for todays result in my opinion.
- the 2 up front actually had movement about them, giving the midfielders some options.
- ghaly playing wide right, allowing jenas into central midfield. we had some width about us.

come on spurs, let this be the turning point of our season and watch the moronic spurs fans calling for jol out so recently, crawl back from where they belong.

What has happened to the South Upper never sold out and always leaving early. Crowd was excellent in parts today but why can,t the East and West sing and become the 12th man?

Defoe was great today.

Chased things down, looked lively and was always moving.

And he got a well deserved confidence-boosting goal (albeit through a dodgy pen!)

Hope all the Defoe-haters now go and drown themselves, at his best he is by far the best striker at the club

And the crowd were back to their best again!! Well Done.

We're the PARK LANE

Dawson was absolutely immense today. A decent performance from the rest of the team but lets not fool ourselves. We weren't magnificent. As for Zokora, I'd rather not see us diving too often, but we'll just call this time a "slip" and celebrate a very satisfying three points.

Just what we needed. Steady the ship, by all means necessary! Just looked at table.....doesn't look like any challenge coming from 14th place. At least we can concentrate on the cups!!

Seriously, the team had to get out of its comfort zone and start fighting. Zakora took matters into his own hands and, not condoning what he did, grew up as our leader in midfield. If he can want to win that much every game he will be dynamite.

Let's get feisty!!

PS well done the booers!! Sol should not be allowed to have a nice day at the lane. Positively not welcome!!! He's crap now anyway. Always has been, apart from the pace and physique he once had. Still can't believe he left on a free..........selfish man!

Zokora is class and we can understand why wenger wants him.If he can provide the nicks that Jol says Carrick is capable of, IMO, he would provide better channels than Carrick. Those runs of his is just pure dynamite. So much has been said about his dive, but I can't see Carrick running himself into that kind of position for us and earn a penalty.

We still don't have width and our attacking is too laborious. One thing that the top teams do well in the premiership is speed in attack.Man U and Chelsea are prime examples. We try to pass the ball to death and Dawson keep pumping those predictable long balls that usually break down the rythem of the team.

Why can't we do those triangles in training since we have so many players who likes the ball play their feet ?

At times our passing was easy on the eye but the movement upfront just ain't good enough.Defoe still can't keep himself onside.Berbatove just returned from Injury so we can excuse him.

After our worst start to the season, I couldn't bear to look at the table. The Pompy win recover my soul a bit.

Looking at the table..... surprised surprised, teams like Liverpool, and our supposed big club rival Newcastle ain't having a better time than us.How about poor old West Ham and their supposedly world class duo of Argentinians signings ?

People, its the sign of times. Teams like Villa, Pompy are getting closer because of their new sugar daddies. Newcastle had spend tons of money to seduce the likes of Martins and Duff without significant impact.

So relax...we could still make the CL and there are probably 10 teams who can do it too!

But we need to settle the team quickly.I'm please with the likes of Bebartov, Zokora and Chimbonda who are players who would make us better.

Ekotto could defend better than Lee and will get better IMO.

The problem lies with the key men.Keane, Robinson, Defoe and even King are still below their peak performance.Dawson could be better.Jenas produced in spurts.
We still have Lennon and Malbranque waiting to come back. Both IMO would have sigificant impact.I have a sneaky feelingabout Malbranque, he could proved a great player for us, vastly underrated till now.Our new Carrick our new heart beat but providing a different tempo.

on-line gaming has affectively been banned in the US. Uk gaming stocks have collapsed this morning most are 50% down. God knows what this means for Mansion but there must be some serious doubt about them keeping to the sponsership commitments!!!!!!!!!

9.23am...wow this is big news...few pointers though..the marketing strategy for Mansion would unlikely involved US as they are a non football country. The major revenue would likely come from punters in Asia, Europe, Central America I supposed.

If Mansion have decided to sponsor a football team, its seems absurd to me they ahd not considered the target audience of the sponsorship.

I do agree they could be hit hard in the pockets if they have big stakes in the US.But Sponsorship deals are legal binding, they can't simply walk away.

who da fuck wanted to get rid of jol i think you are a bunch of pussys its really annoyed me. Look at what he did last season. He got us in uefa. whats to say we cant win it under him. Just because he has a slight glich. He has made some fantastic signings and he is undoubtedly a great manager. He has a right to stay

WE CHEATED .

ZOKS COULD HAVE BEEN BOOKED FOR A DISGUSTING DIVE.

WE SHOULD BE HONEST AND ALL SAY WE ARE ASHAMED.

SIMPLE BUT TRUE.

OPENING GOAL WAS LUCK.

SIMPLE AND TRUE

WE WERE POOR FOR 1 HOUR.
DEFOE JENAS BERB TAINIO WERE ALL BAD FOR THAT HOUR.

ROBO HAD HIS BEST GAME FOR WEEKS.
WE WOULD NOT HAVE WON WITHOUT HIM.
KING WENT TO SLEEP FOR THEIR GOAL.

A WIN .
BUT LETS NOT GET CARRIED AWAY.
A BETTER TEAM WOULD HAVE BEATEN US.

get over it - were you watching a different game to me? we ran the show for the first 40 minutes. zokora cheated, true and there is no place for that in spurs game - see my previous comments.
i think ur being a bit harsh on the team. much improved on thursdays performance. still a long way to go, ut credit where credit is due.
we won because we were the better team - simple.

What a great result?? I feel sorry for Harry Redcap but fot the other two, Adams and Campbell, to get done by cheating is too good for them!! I see big Tone has said on the Sky website that Zak-attack won't last too long in the premier league if he carries on like that. I can't remeber saying that about Pires though a few years back......It's good though that the game has it's morals safely in the hands of such a fair and balanced mind.

This is absolutely disgusting... spurs fans telling zokoro that he is wrong to cheat for his team....Thats not our job...you high minded snob......I have more respect for the likes of Christiano Ronaldo, Drogba than to have hear this nonsense. These guys are professionals and we snatch every point we could in any way we could.

It the job of the ref to spot the event and give Zokora a card.We as fans can do no worse than to shut up at times like these.

I don't know how Zokoro would feel knowing his own fans pillored him on his dive. How about appreciating the fact that he make a great run in the first place ? Something that Carrick don't do that often.

Re: 12.57am

Don't know about a challenge but climbing up the table at this early stage in the season can happen quickly if we get a decent run going. If.
Didn't bother booing sol at the game. Don't want him to think that he's of any concern to us whatsoever. He's not to me any more anyway, my mind's on Ledley and Daws, sol's yesterdays news as the current direction of his career shows. Thought we played well against portsmouth. The penalty was highly suspect to say the least but at least we didn't win against the run of play. Did you see that mendes interview? "we played better"??!!
I don't remember HIM getting a clout on the head.

Go on the Spurs!

Have to agree about 4.31 Diving spoils the game and backfires on you in the end. I imagine it's been made clear to Zokora that pride in the way you win perhaps means a little more here than in many other countries or maybe I'm just looking at english football through rose tinted spectacles?

What do you think?

If we get short changed next time there is a genuine penalty claim that call fate evening itself out isn't it ?

The only time, I seen a player who owned up to a claim to a bad penalty call is Fowler and that is because he tried to impress his spice girl date in the stand.

Lets face it every player that get into the penalty box have only 2 thing in mind; one is to shoot for goal and the other try to earn a penalty. It's all so instinctive.

Zokora instintively fell to his fett when he sees Mendes feet swooping at him which was only withdrawn at the last moment. With Zokora body swerving at that moment. The most natural reaction is to fall to his feet.Unless you possess the balance of Maradona.
Most players in his position would do that. You can posed that question to 10 players and 9 probably would say that they would choose that option to earn a penalty.

Hoddle is a real A** to even suggest that is cheating. He should know better.Maybe he is so langiud that he never get into such a position in his whole career. The "dive" was no worse than many of the showmanship to earn the opponent a card or a freekick. It was unsporting but who needs a game played sportingly without drama. Its like watching a action movie without a villain.

Have to disagree with you on the Zokora incident. He didn't just fall, he arched his back and threw his arms up as if he'd had his feet kicked from under him. He cheated. Hoddle's right. Zokora will have learned a lesson due to all the publicity. I hope. We were the better team against portsmouth, that's the important thing.

Go on the Spurs!

EL....What you want us to be better than Pompy and not the points in the bag ? You must have enjoyed our Man U & Liverpool match in that case.

Yes he "cheated" but WHO won't when given this opportunity.

It was perfect for a dive...he turn Mendes inside out.I saw the incident on TV and at first glance it looks like a penalty.

You saw players rushing to cover after you make that turn...you saw a swooping feet coming at you. What do you think you want to do ? Make another turn ?

It was instinctive quick thinking... full marks to Zokoro even if you feel sorry for the ref.

Re:2.47pm

I suppose what I'm saying is that I have a lot of pride in my team and that stretches to wanting to see us prove our superiority over others without winning cheap or illegal points. It's not about being pompous or lofty, it's just about an appreciation of the game of fooball and a 'proper' competitive spirit. Winning by diving for a penalty is tantamount to waiting for your opponent to go to the toilet during a chess game and then moving one of his pieces, going on to win the game and then getting all excited because you won!! You haven't actually beaten anyone you've just fooled them and possibly yourself. We didn't beat portsmouth we stole 2 points off them. It may not be a fashionable thing to say but that's my point of view.
