Spurs Vs. West Ham

There was a time when teams on a bad run, like West Ham, used to be delighted to see Spurs appear in the fixture list. We seemed to have the knack of allowing the new signing to score, ending an opposition goal drought, ending a win less streak and so on. This has not been Spurs of the last year or so but since our European adevnture began our league form has not be fantastic. Good performances, lousy results - Liverpool, Manchester United etc.

So, I don't really care too much about the performance today as long as we stuff the Bingo club! If we play like we did on Thursday we should turn them over but we can never be complaicent.

Zokora does not sound like he will return today as he has maleria! I hope Huddlestone keeps his place as he had another good game. The one change I would make is to include Defoe for Keane. Defoe looked like he was getting back to his old ways against Villa and I think Jol was resting him on Thursday for today.

Agreed. I'd like to see Jermain up front too. As well as form there's also the old club factor too. The poor little hammers don't like Defoe. Greedy, I think they call him and he'll love the opportunity to put some past them. Perhaps this is the game he's been looking for to seal his comeback.

My heart's aflutter, my season ticket calling me from the bookshelf.

phew!
my earlier worries subsided.
better result than last season, but so nearly a repeat.
so much posession, so many chances. good result, but got to start whipping these teams.
still, another 3 points, 4 games unbeaten, the revival continues.

Great result today. Things looking up again. Is great that we have won both of our games straight after european matches. That is something a lot of teams struggle with. Still wish we would perform better on a more consistant basis. Glad Mido scored. Will give him a bit of confidence. I am still not sure who is best out of Keane or Defoe to partner Berbatov. They are both great but have different things to offer. It is hard trying to keep both happy and keep the consistancy levels going again. Deep down though I think Jol should decide on his favourite and stick with him for a run of games. There is no consistancy otherwise and this is why goals are hard to find at the moment.
We are on the up again ( I hope ). Lets not go out in the cups early this year. We have a big enough squad to cope with the games, so lets winwinwin! Come on you Spurs!

OBVIOUS THAT KEANE AND BERBY ARE NOT UP TO IT IN THE PREM AND WE SHOULD SAVE THEM FOR THE EURO CUP.
MIDO WAS FULL OF ENERGY AND RUNNING TODAY BUT DEFOE IS A SELFISH SOD AND WAS ONLY CONCERNED WITH SCORING FOR HIMSELF AND WINDING UP THE SPAMMER FANS.

LENNON IS THE MAIN MAN FOR US AND SHOWED HE IS OUR MOST IMPORTANT FORWARD.

DAWSON ESPECIALLY AND THE REST OF THE DEFENCE WAS SLOPPY TODAY AND A BETTER TEAM WOULD HAVE PUNISHED US.

HUDDY LOOKING GOOD AND SO MUCH BETTER THAN JJ.

2 EASY GAMES COMING UP TO HELP BOLSTER CONFIDENCE BUT WE ARE STILL LIGHT YEARS AWAY FROM MAN U CHELS AND ARSENAL .

ARSENAL WERE AWESOME TODAY AND LOOK BETTER WITH EVERY GAME.

Dear park lenny the goon,

Nice to have you on our site. Always a pleasure and a sign of how much we threaten our neighbours when I see you lot spending so much of your time trying to wind us all up. Good on ya.
Just a friendly tip if I may; try not to be so obvious and then you're more likely to get some of our more obtuse and reactionary yids to respond.

All the best

It says a lot of our upturn in fortunes, when 2 Eyghtians opened their scoring for us in successive matches.

Its ominous. since Murphy scored also againts Portsmouth in our colours for th first time.

All the nonsense about Carrick being central to our fortunes should be put away.We need the team to gel. After 3 seasons of tinkering, wheeling and dealing, its time to have a settled squad.

Bolton and Everton are reaping the benefits of a settled team.Bolton is on a 4 win run using exactly the same team.

IMO, the first choice strikers are Defoe/Berbatov and it must be made known to Keane. The cause of the team must come first.Keane is the second striker without being inferior to Defoe.

Look at our defence, it's rock solid now b'cos we have been playing the same back 4 week in week out.

Lennon/Zokoro/Jenas/Murphy is the first choice midfield.

Though I'm open to the idea of a Zokoro/Huddlestone axis as I think Huddlestone is the best holding player we have.Zokoro is also a better attacking player than Jenas. What do you guys think.

Malbranque would be replaced Murphy on the left when he is fit.But I still hoping we bring a proper left winger in Jan.J Cole would be realistic if we get a good run together.

Re: 5.10am

Completely agree with every word of your last 2 paragraphs.

To think that carrick, a player who went missing fairly often last season and lacked presence, paid for Berbatov & Zokora. And Huddlestone cost what? One million or something? The brilliance of Levy and the board should not be underestimated.

Onwards and upwards!

Some great points (what are you doing on this site with your astute insights?) I only disagree with the Joe Cole bit. I rate Cole as highly as everyone but I don't think he will come. Plus he is not a natural left winger and we have enough 'utility' midfielders.

as for the forwards, how about Mido and Berbatov? Mido to shoulder the big man job and Berbs to ghost. I watched Bulgaria recently and he scored 2 goals by ghosting in. MJ has tried bigman/little man and little man/little man but never big man/big man.

Park Len is actually Arsene Wenger, all this talk of fairplay and sportsmanship. He'll be whingeing next that we don't kick the ball out of play when the opposition knock each other over. Are you seriously suggesting that Arsenal are now the torch bearers of fairplay? This must pove you are undercover arsenal.

What do you mean we are becoming hate figures? As if we were loved by all and sundry before...let me educate you.

All other teams hate us and think that we are traditionally a soft touch who will sacrifice any success in place of stylish entertaining football. In other words; MUGS.

A hero from the past is Dave Mackay, a legend at the lane and much admired by Bill Nicholson. A proper no nonsense hard man who makes vinny jones look like a boy. He was part of the team that built the reputation of spurs as a stylish team.

Although I don't condone foul play or diving, in the context of the modern premier league, winning at all cost is the name and aim of the game.

The spurs attack has been described as toothless this season; maybe JD baring his hampsteads and Mido getting stuck in is the turning point.

A regular shelf moron.

ackie

maybe 'win at all costs' is a bit too strong, I'm not a complete gorilla. I'm just trying to say that complaining about how pretty the football is has blighted the atmosphere at spurs for the past 15 years and has stopped us from being successfull. The scumbuckets from woolwich have stolen a march by making priority 1-win. priority 2-play well. we are priority 1- look flash 2- might get lucky.

toughen up spurs!

PS where's the saltfish?

The Dofoe bite has blown out of proportion.Do anyone spurs fans think from the 3 years we have him known him, thinks that he is Schizophrenic or a cannibal ?

If he meant malaise, he might as well thrown a punch in anger. The disgusting thing is Mescherano not only tried to get him send off but complained about the incident after.

It may be silly gesture on the part of Defoe but the real hate figures are those players who deliberately get fellow pros into trouble.

As for Robinoson, I was a great fan of his since his Leeds days.I was overjoyed when he joined us.

But his nervy WC has been playing on his mind since the beginning of the season.Robbo is a accident waiting to be happened.

But he is still a a great keeper who can only get better. My only criticism of his game is that he do not command his penalty box as top keepers do.He really should work on his handing of crosses and come to meet them more often.

He still England No 1 and guys like Carson and Kirkland do not have the same potential as Robbo.

The sports minister is out of order wanting the FA to investigate the Defoe bite.He took the notion of fair play and setting good example out of proportion.

If setting a good example is so important to him why don't he ask the FA to slam players who show their ass in public.Or the England players with their WAGS in Germany ?

I think a minsiter in such high position should show discretion when starting a public inquiry.
