We will probably finish 5th-6th, but this is fine with me as i truly believe we will do the cup double this year, FA, and UEFA

IMHO, the ultimate is that one of the top 4 slips up and we are there to get 4th. I cant see two of the 'big' teams stumbling but you never know. I agree with MJ, we arent as good as them yet.
The worst possible I can foresee a finish around 8th - 9th, if we struggle bedding in new signings. But the most likely is 5th 6th. I would be very happy with that.

What would you guys prefer, getting dumped out of all cups at respectable stages or finishing 4th spot CL qualifying position in the league?

Personally I would like to see us finish 4th in the league and get in to CL as we would have some experience in Europe this season, which would benefit us for the CL campaign next season. Do you think we have a quad strong enough for finishing in CL position and doing a good job, say semi-finals, of UEFA Cup?

Though, Liverpool beat Chelsea recently, I still feel that our squad quality is quite close to theirs.

Jol always play down expectation but Benitaz always play up his team.

Bellamy vs Keane...Sissoko vs Zokora...Kyut vs Berbatov...Defoe vs Crouch...Dawson vs Carragher...King Vs Hyppia...Lennon ve Pennant

I think we win the battle for those on top.The rest of the positions you could practically swap players from each team and not make a difference.

We don't have a Gerrard or Alonso..Hopefully Jenas will step up to the level of Alonso.Carrick would have been our Gerrard and Fergie clearly saw his potential. We are also missing a left sided midfielder.

imo top 4 is there for the taking.
as much as i hate to say it, chelski have probably bought the league again, but any place of 2nd - 5th is there for the taking. who are the big 2???
the league is about 38 games spread over 9/10 months. if we learn from our silly mistakes of last season, last minute dropped points etc and can take points off the so called top 4, which we could and should have done last season on more than 1 occassion, any position of 2 - 5 is achievable.
i think mj is happyish with the squad but will probably make a couple of additions before 31st aug. CL qualification must be a priority this season, along with uefa cup and a decent run in the domestic cups. league placings and semi finals mean nothing - its time we won some silverware and let ledders experience holding a cup aloft other than his morning coffee cup !!!

roll on saturday

I have a suspicion we'll make an audacious bid for a top quality left winger before the window closes.
Just sold reid and I find it hard to believe they'll go through another season without one. (reid was not a true winger, more inside left).
