Twelve hours to go

Depending on who you believe we are buying a left winger and we are not buying a left winger. We are buying five players, we are selling five players.

Defoe is leave for £15 million and then he is staying.

Twelve hours of madness and then it is finished, until January anyway, and quite frankly I can't wait.

Lets hope we are all smiling at Midnight tonight but as it stands I'm not too confident.

Levy, please prove me WRONG!

COYS!

i fink weve missed out in allowing tevez and mascernao go to the hammers if they were up for grabs or even on loan they would improve our squad for the season without doubt!

i am extremely worried about this season now following the news that tevez and mascherano are signing for the hammers. I fear that unless we sign malbranque, chimbonda, a top class left winger AND a centre back as suitable cover for king/dawson, we could well end up finishing mid table. I'm afraid to say that my head tells me the irons are now favourites to break into the top 4 and not us, unless we make at least 2 of the signings above before midnight. Get the cheque book out Levy and lets pull a few surprises out of the hat. COYS

Assuming we sign Chimbonda, if not then swap Lee with him. I'd prefer Spurs to play a 433 (unless we sign a proper left wing).

Lennon and Keane could stretch teams with some width. Murphy is our only central midfielder seemingly capable of passing an incisive ball, so he would add to the central midfield. Zokora will be able to sit in front of the defense. Jenas could be the box to box central midfielder. So we shouldn't be over run in central midfield. Allow Keane to drift, and we could cause the opposition genuine problems

Signing i'd most like Spurs to make. Pavel Nedved. He is perfect for us, but it doesn't seem to be happening

Robinson
Chimbonda King Dawson Ekotto
Jenas Zokora Murphy
Lennon Keane
Berbatov

Everyone needs to calm down a bit. We have a VERY good squad which once the new players gel and Ledley is back will be pushing for a top four finish IMO.

West Ham have got a result with the two Argie lads but it looks like Chelski have let this happen to see how they get on….. don’t forget about the likes of Veron and Crespo.

THFC – Can’t smile without you!

True, they could be flops like veron and crespo, but on the flipside they may turn out like villa and ardilles! I have to say i can't see these 2 flopping. Tevez has pace and skill in abundance, and mascherano looks like the new viera. COYS i want to see the next breaking news flashes on sky sports news being linked with us!

rumour has it that martin jol has become incresingly frustrated with his attempts to sign a left winger over the past few days. Just heard on the radio that we have begged steve mcmanaman to come out of retirement and join us!

Steed has signed - it's on the Spurs site now.

But he's out for 10 weeks with a dodgy groin. Deep joy.

We will be buying more players today - malbranque is a long term solution to the creative midfield problem (out for 2-3 months) - so there will be more to come. I am worried that Lee has blown our chance of getting Chimbonda by refusing to leave. I think we will get Ben Arfa and maybe one other surprise purchase. Levy always brings in a last minute wild card on deadline day (Defoe, Murphy in the past)

This is all, at the moment just rumours...

Is anybody else dissapointed with todays happenings?
Ok,we bring in Malbranque and probably Chimbonda, but then Wet Spam off all clubs, totally over shadow these buys,by signing 2 top quality stars.
When was the last time we even bid for players of this ilk,let alone pull off a coup by signing them?

Very dissapointing that a side like spam can attract these 2 players, and we are left with Steed and Chim, who in all honesty are not gonna fire us to top 4 r they?

Overall,it's been a very laclustre window, and I for one(although naturally peesimistic!)have lost all my hope that gathered from last season.

weve got a left winger - hes called reto ziegler, spurs young player of the year 2 seasons ago, remember him? could save jol 10 mil if he gave him a run of games.

also, i know hindsight blah blah, but shame we let etherington go to wet spam.

Agree with Etherington comment, disappointed with Routledge going would like to him him kept to give Lennon a rest, Ziegler should play on left. Need CB cover more than anything as this will cost us everything if either MD or LK get injured as has already been shown this season, CD and AG are not good enough.

Spurs arrange last ditch deadline deal
22:00 August, 31, 2006
Tottenham sporting director Damien Comolli has been spotted in Manchester, presumably courting Stewart Downing of Middlesbrough.

Heres to hoping we can still get a left winger b4 the day is done.

Downing is shyte and vastly over-rated.

Ziegler is not going to be given a chance at all and wouldn't be suprised to see him shipped out on loan aswell.

This is utter bullshit Spurs

Bring us the fucking players or play the young ones we've got, WHY BUY THEM TO LOAN THEM OUT AND THEN EVENTUALLY SELL THEM,?
............but no Davids, Jenas and co will still play regardles of there pathetic form and desire

Shame we didn't manage to get a left winger, which was our No1 transfer priority all summer. But at least we have shoved Stalteri even further down the order with Chimbo's signing.

I would have tried to sign Hatem Ben Arfa for the problem area or even made enquiries about Charles N'Zogbia who is gonna be a star i'm sure of it, don't think the barcodes would have sold him but what with them buying Duff, you never know.

Oh well, we'll have to wait another year now to try and sign a Lefty unless Ziegler is given a chance and impresses, because i can't see any decent players being availbale in Jan, they never are.

Oh & HURRY BACK LEDLEY !!!!!!!!!!!!

why does everyone keep going on about ziegler; we all know that he will not play any part mj's plans and is likely to be loaned out to some carp team to gain 'experience'

and secondly he is not a winger but more of a left back

My thoughts - we were never going to get Kuyt, Bent, Torres and Baptista. And Martins, Lua Lua and Hesselink too overated and overpriced IMO. Mido was perfect to fit our need for a 2nd big physical striker with a lot of passion for the club at 3.5 million!...are you kidding?...of course thats a great addition. He is even joining inspite of Berby being at the club, confident that he can offer great competition to him. This on paper now leaves us with one of the best strike forces in the prem...welcomeback Mido my son! And Chimbonda will address that lightweight right hand side, Lee was way too small with Lennon ahead, however Lee will be good cover for both the left and right, until he decides to move on, then we have salty as cover for RB, if he decides to stick around that is. Then Malbranque, is creative...an ingredient we are clearly missing at the mo, and at 2.5 million is relatively low risk. However, I agree he has to be given a chance in the side unlike the Murphy situation. Jol also has to stop playing his favourites when they clearly aren't performing - Davids and JJ. It is imperative that Huddlestone starts getting at least a bench place, as he really could replace Carrick who clearly we are missing his calm, smooth passing distribution. Yes it is a slight overall improvement, apart from the left wing...but hey we were 45 minutes away from that champs league spot last season with the same left side problem, we had 2 below average fullbacks, lack of cover up front left us playing Keane and Defoe which did not always work. Now forget Tevez and Mascherano going to the spammers, that deal is a one off due to the Spammers connection with Corinthians. And **** Baptista he never wanted to play for us even last time we tried to sign him anyway. Firstly Bringing in expensive players from abroad does not guarantee anything and Secondly we do not have the profile abroad yet that makes these "big name" players want to join us, so bless the Berbatov, Zokora and Ekotto who believe in our future, in return we need to give them a chance to settle into the toughest league in the world. Then Chimbonda, Malbranque and Mido are proven inthe prem for a combined fee of 11 million, not bad IMO. In all we have spent about 32 or 33 million for these 6 players and recouped 25 million by selling our dead wood - Rasiak, Kelly, Marney, Jackson, Reid and unfortunately one good player who left us with no choice - Carrick. So our new signings only represent an extra investment of about 7 or 8 million in total, plus money from the players we sold last season! Thats ******* good business and management IMO. However if we are to succeed this season, MJ needs the team of last year to wake up!...after all, we are only missing one key guy - Carrick, he needs to make those young lions of last season hungry again, stop believing their own hype and fight tooth and nail for every point like last season, beating the teams we should be including the Evertons, Boltons, Boros, Blackburns and Geordies etc as well as start taking points from last seasons top 4. We can do it...a good team does not turn bad overnight!...lets start to appreciate the progress we have made in a short amount of time instead of acting like spoilt kids...come on MJ! and Come one you Spurs!
