Mido plus more to come

Mido has been officially completed subject to a work permit. He will be welcomed back by the majority of Spurs fans as long as he is in shape. His scoring ratio was quite good and adds further options to the front line. This is the signing mentioned by The Shelf as "done" last week.

The same reliable sources from FTL and COYS have spotted others on the radar. As being reported by Sky Lee looks like he is going with Chimbonda ready to come in. Malbranque is coming from Fulham to boost the left side with Routledge and Murphey going the other way. Downing though looks a no go for whatever reason. I think we were waiting for him to hand in a transfer request but he hasn't so it does not look like it is happening. We are still trying to get someone really big but personal terms willbe a stumbling block.

As always, until the players are seen holding a Spurs shirt take it all with a pinch of salt.

COYS!

I would be very disapointed if we are hoping steed malbranque will be the answer to our long running left sided problems. Ben Arfa sounds like the perfect candidate to me with pace skill and power...more than Downing can offer thats for sure!

Malbranque has never played for Fulham on the left so why would want him for our left hand side! Good player, but bit desparate to think he is the answer for the left

What are you on about Murphy and Routledge in the other direction for Malbranque? Hes up for sale for 2million as hes in hisl ast year of his contract, a fee agreed with West Ham apparently. Routledge and Murphy are worth 3mil each i'd say. That doesnt add up, and with a squad lacking creativity are we going to let go to of our creative players for one. Plus hes not a left footer or has he played there, he'd be coming in to challenge for Jenas' position. He would be a good signing for us as a attacking midfielder and might give Jenas a kick up the backside. Mido is a good signing four fourth striker, though it looks like Barny will be pushed back once again and end up sold off the a championship club by next summer which is just typical.

I am personally very happy. This now completes our strike force, gives us a different option in tough games and covers us incase of Berby injury and also keeps Berby on his toes so he does not get complacent. Also he is a proven player across Europe and in the prem where he scored a good few for us last season. After he went to the ANC we clearly missed him, and lost a lot more games without him. His passion you cannot buy, and hopefully he ends his nomadic days and finally settles down here like Robbie Keane did after his many moves!
Mido is also a vital part of that strong Spurs core through the middle that we had last season. When Ledley is back, the only part that will be missing is Carrick.

Bit worried about spending 13.5 million on Julio Baptista. I do not follow La Liga enough to know much about him apart from he has a reputation as "the beast", but thought thats why we spent 8+ million on Zokora also!. Did he perform well for Madrid last season and was he first choice every game? is this just a pathetic ploy to keep the Spurs fans happy? because an expensive Real Madrid reject does not neccesarily turn me on. A frank Ribery, Van Der Vaart or Wes Shneider type signing would though, because they will bring creativity, which is the thing we really are missing! If Baptisita is really that good then sign him, but we should not just sign him just because Arsenal once wanted him, because they also once wanted Jenas!, and this signing so soon would not undermine/knock the confidence of Zokora. But cannot see us paying that much on another defensive midfielder. Also a swap for Mido and Lee-Pyo IMO is good business, as Pyo is a good player but at 29 years old, will never cut it at the top of the prem due to lack of strength, not good when the going gets tough. I can see a compromise being reached for Chimbonda now, Wigan will want some money instead of nowt!...Stalteri will be good enough as cover, and besides we was never going to get any money for him anyway, so better to cash in on Pyo instead. Looks like we'll have to settle on a new more solid midfield with any of Baptista and Zokora, Tainio, Huddlestone and relying on the flair of Lennon and Keano, and the physique's of Mido and Berbatov...similar to last year if we can get that fighting spirit going along with better passing. And for god sake lets use our squad, give Routledge, Murphy, Ghaly and Ziegler a chance somewhere...and if theyre not good enough move them on!...COYS!!!

This is great news indeed , never wanted him to go in the first place he loves the club like we do just what we need. Get Chimbonda , fair enough but after that surely we have enough quality for the other positions we all think we need filling , I actually dont to be honest , feck Downing he was shit last night and petualant when things where going against him , the force is not strong in this one, he is weak of mind and not what the doc has ordered. I think we have enough already so lets get the fuck on with what we have ( excuse the language ) all this could of , should of , would of , oh hes the answer its all bollix, BMJ knows whats what and in JOL we trust. Its not a done deal until the BIGFELLA sings.

if we dont sign a leftie then give routledge a few games! the guy has hardly played for us!!! what is the point of signing promising talent and not using them. i am getting fed up with spurs signing promising players and not giving them a proper chance.

i would like to see Ipending transfers/injuries) to give the non performers a kick up the arse;

Cerny, Chimbonda, Dawson, King, Ekotto, Lennon, Tainio, Zokora, Routledge, Berby and Keano start with Robbo, Defoe, Ghaly, Huddlestone, Mido.

This offers lots of attach options in the team and on the bench.

Drop Davids & Jenas...they have been shite!

Lets give Man Utd a game and try and score some goals...

Good news about Mido.
On the Chimbonda front though, I'd rather we sign Lucas Neill. He's a solid right back and would be an able replacement for either King or Dawson if they ever got injured in the centre of defence. Was amazed at how he managed to stifle the threat of Ronald 'o' and 'inho' in the World Cup.

lucas neill is shit
over rated and always getting sent off or booked

i welcome the signing of mido with open arms - hes got a desire and passion which hopefully rubs off on some of the under performing arseholes currently believing their hyped up superstar status.

mido / defoe / keane / berbatov - probably the best strike squad in the premiership. rotate them jol and keep them all happy. 65 goals between them this season??

we dont need baptista, we just need our prima donna superstars already at the club to start performing.

who gives a shit if our left midfielder isnt naturally left footed - look at ginola, galvin, waddle.

if we sign all the players everyone wants, we will have a squad of 50 players, 2 thirds of who will want to leave cos they cant get a game.

too many more new players and we will have yet another season of transition rather than consolidation.

the only player of worth to leave has been carrick and zokora will replace him.

put the chq book away jol and start getting the current squad to justify their outrageous salaries. this will be a real test of his management skills. anyone can buy the title - just ask chelski.

i think baptista would be a great signing and also with another quality attacking mid at the club maybe jenas will start putting some real effort in!

As for RB would prefer chimbo as neill seems to be constantly getting booked/sent off, apart from that he is a great player.

left mid would like to see downing but not for the stupid money thats being hinted at. i don't know why BMJ doesn't give ziegler or routledge a chance! ziegler was solid for us 2 years ago and routledge showed at palace that he's a quality player...anyway i trust BMJ to make the best decision, he's done pretty well so far!

Mido, Chimbonda and Malbranque settled.

Icing on the cake would be Baptista.Those who question this guy probably have not watch the La Liga.

He is all pace, skill and presence.We are probably the only team aside from Chelsea and Man U ready to splash above 10mil for players.

A ferrari of a player if you like and remind me of Adriano.

As usual WHL is always to be, when transfer window looms. Can't help but think there would be surprises, names that never appeared in the papers.

A centerback seems on our shopping list.

After a dismal start we need a lift before things start spiraling downwards.

As for Downing, you could see why MJ is interested.Pace and quality crossing though he may not excite like Duff. Maybe after Boros suffered more of those 4 nil thrashing he would come in Jan

Why people now moaning about the lost of carrick ? just because we lost the 2 games?? I think the real problem why we lost is because our captain didn't play in that game! simple as that! we've done a good business on carrick and there's no point of regret!.

The problem don't lie in the sale of Carrick; it was aggravated by the sale but the cracks were there last season.

Carrick compensated his lack of pace by his uncanny vision.Last season we find outselves consistently outbattled by physically stron team.This season its the same.

Despite the presence of the pitbull, which has became a cat IMO, our midfield has became the pushovers as was the case during the Hoddle days.That was recitifed by the pairing of Davis and Mendes 2 years back, which bring pace and mascular presence.But these 2 fellas are gone.

In came Tanio and Jenas, which provide guile but not physical presence.In that respect we have went backwards.

Malbranque would provide a bit of steel and pace back.We have been losing the physical battle in midfield. I also think Zokora would readdress the balance by providing the passing which Davids is underperforming.

Last word, IMO, players like Tanio and Salteri are not the type which will bring us to the next level.They are decent but can any of them step inot the top 4 ?

We must keeping buying and changing.Mido, Chimbonda and Malbranque is the right for us.

I think we have been buying for buying sake for a long time . Why buy Ghally and Murphy if you have no intention of playing them . I think we want to win the Reserve League every year . I think Tainio if he stays fit is an excellent player . The problem is he is injury prone . Routledge has never been given a chance , YPL another full back in for a year and then out . We should not just spend for the sake of it . If we can not buy the quality players we want then make do . I am yet to be convinced in many cases that the signings made in the last 18 months are better than those we have . I liked Mido but not sure we can keep 4 top forwards happy would never surprise me to see Defoe move - he will not want to be on the bench most weeks .

Guys, let's remember that we have a long hard season ahead...league and three cups, we need the extra bodies in the squad to get us through injuries and suspensions without the quality of the team being diminished. All of the players appear to be improvements on the current squad and will push players such as Jenas and Defoe to know that their places in the team aren't a forgone conclusion...never a good thing...even Lennon shouldn't expect to be in the team week in week out despite his obvious talent. I think the most important position is CB. Dawson is still very young and King generally missing 10 games a season...we need another experienced big hitter...Gardener and Davenport are good players but not leaders and not consistant enough. Onward and upward...

Malbranque?

Another RIGHT FOOTED CENTRAL MIDFIELD player to 'solve' the problem left side?

Whilst he is a decent player he is not (imo) the solution.

At least we aren't signing slug-paced S.Downing for stupid money who is over-rated and not worth more than 3-4m

Would have much prefered the Ben Arfa rumours to have come true (still time left), young, good passer & crosser, fast, left footed, natural winger.

Or would have splashed the cash and tried venomously to sign Wesley Sneijder, who is pure class

Although Malbranque is a good buy (for the reported 2m fee) do we really need him?

P.S. Also Someone has stated he is quick, i can assure you he is NOT (and he's a midget)

Midget FC:
Stalteri
Ifil
Ekotto
Wipey Lee
Davids
Zokora
Murphy = Pikey Scouse Wanker
Tainio
Lennon = LEGEND
Routledge
Defoe = (could be) LEGEND
Keane = LEGEND

and now all 5'7 of Steeeeeeeeeed !!

Oh well, Up The Spurs !!!

P.P.S. And a big pat on the back to all the Spurs fans who turn up week in, week out to watch our beloved club home & away......... BEST FUCKING SUPPORTERS IN THE WORLD

Actually Ginola was so good he was 2 footed but naturally a lefty.

i believe they were both ambidextrous of the foot - whatever the saying is. my point is, you dont HAVE to be left footed to play left midfield / wing.
waddle often played on the right and left, ditto ginola.
lots of comments also about lennon and / or routledge playing left wing.
my point is who gives a fuck if a footballer is left or right footed, as long as he can beat a man and get a cross in for mido / berbatov etc to climb majestically, soaring high above senderos / toure et all and planting a firm header past the despairing dive of jens wanker as spurs win 5-0 at the new library.
do you get my drift?!?!?

9:20 PM, August 30, 2006

Anonymous Anonymous said...

firstly Waddle & Ginola we're super players so unless we sign a fucking magical right footed player to play left wing then square pegs my friend.

If you are not left footed and play left wing if (and manage to get to the by-line) you still can't cross the balls in, so no service and no point.

Y.P.Lee on the left is an example: he gets down the left wing (or did last season) and then stops, checks back to his right foot (giving the rb time to catch him up) and then abra-ca-dabra no cross, or more common - goal kick.

get my drift?!

Pekhart came on as a sub in our reserve win against the pikey's of portsmouth tonight.

Not bad for a second year scholar. This 17 year old kid apparently has a lot of potential and should do, considering we paid 1m for him.

Also does anyone know anything about this other kid Terry Dixon? He was recently called up to the Rep.Ireland's FIRST TEAM and he is only 16

According to Staunton had he not been withdrawn through injury he would have been awarded a cap!

Don't know much about him but word is Dixon is similar to the young Rooney who burst on to the scene a few years back, not just in his style of play & but physically

Not getting carried away but it certainly is an exciting prospect if whispers are to be true
