"It is better to fail aiming high than to succeed aiming low. And we of Spurs have set our sights very high, so high in fact that even failure will have in it an echo of glory." Bill Nicholson. SPURS

News roundup

Dean Marney has been sold to Hull City signing a three year deal. Although promising he never had the pace to succeed, in my opinion, at the highest level and especially in the top four which must be where we now have our sights set.

Spurs beat Bordeaux yesterday with the first goal from Defoe. He has apparently arrived back in training with a top class attitude clearly with a point to prove after the World Cup squad selection disaster that ultimatly led to England's downfall in Germany. Berbatov and Assou-Ekotto made their debuts.

Ledley King will make his return to full fitness tonight in a friendly against Nice. Robbie Keane is out injured with a pulled neck muscle.

COYS!

Paxton Road season ticket holder, no need to be bitchy because I have an opinion. Its people like you that give Spurs fans a bad name. Have a sensible debate instead of posting inane drivel just to make money.

Here we go again, now theres speculaion about ManUsa bidding 15 million for Defoe to replace RVN who just left for Madrid!. I dont know how true it is, but it makes me nervous the prospect of losing any of our star players as replacing them seems difficult with all these clubs putting ridiculous fees on players unproven in the prem. We are then left biting our finger nails right until transfer deadline night, hoping for no more Rasiaks!

vinny, don't be worried m8, trust MJ, If the pair go for approx 30M think of the quality we can bring in. e.g Zambrotta, Gattuso, and Toni. The three of them will most likely be available now as a resuult of their respective clubs penalties. Carrick is pretty good but not world class, and the same for defoe. We must aim high if we are to return to the glory days. The future's bright the future is lilywhite.

Actually the RVN to Madrid deal is just speculation right now, but probably imminent as he wants to leave ManU. The Defoe bid rumour, although makes sense is also mere speculation right now, so no need to worry yet I suppose.

But my point still stands, that we should be building on our quality, not selling.

Unless the individual player actually wants to leave, then I am a believer that you cannot and not worth keeping players that dont want to stay...alla Sol C. Hope Carrick and Defoe do stay, as looking forward to Zokora, Carrick partnership and Defoe, Keane, Berbatov and one more striker addition this season.

I would love the arrival of Gattuso, Zambrotta and Toni, at the lane but unfortunately they are Champions league players and difficult to persuade to come to spurs instead of the Real Madrids and Inter Milans of this world.

So Im favour of just adding any quality players to what we have got right now.

weve got a ready made left winger - hes called reto ziegler....

reto ziegler, reto ziegler, you guys love him. why? he couldnt even get in wigans team when he went on loan there. he couldnt get in that german team either. he is not up to it mate. if lennon had gone on loan to wigan he would have made an impact and stayed in the team. why...cos he has star quality. ziegler has a nice left foot but lacks pace to be a winger. either stalteri could man mark him...if we want C.L we need more quality than that NOW!!!

Seeing as the other post seems to have run out of space, i'll post this here.

For anybody doubting the quality of Duff, just paste this link into your web address bar:

He would be a massive coup for Spurs if it does happen? regardless of what anyone says

Just imagine Lennon & Duff terrorising the prem defenders!!
