Duff to join Newcastle

Unfortunatly the Duff deal has fallen through which is sadly how it goes in football. While I would have been delighted if he joined Spurs it is clear that he is only interested in money as he is being paid £85,000 a week in a team that doesn't need a left winger but a new defence and striker. The fee Newcastle agreed with Chelski was over £12 million pounds according to the usual message boards FTL and COYS. For that money they are welcome to him.

Better news suggests that Carrick is staying :-) If true, and I hope it is, then it is fantastic news - who would you rather have? Carrick or Duff? Easy answer for me.

I think Levy also deserves some credit for refusing to let a greedy agent hold the club to ransom.

"Give me a Duff, Mo!"

is what Homer Simpson would say in Springfield. Comolli has apprently uttered the same line but replaced Mo with "Evil Russian Mafia boss".

That's right Chelski are apprently willing to do business with us for the talented left winger for around £7 milion quid if you believe the excellent ITKs over at FTL and COYS. All is agreed bar a couple of personal terms and of course the important medical. Whisperings suggest it could be done tomorrow although Zakora being done tomorrow ment in 4 weeks time.

As always take with a pinch of salt until you see Jol bear hugging him at Spurs Lodge. Could this be the left winger we desperatly needed the whole of last season?

News roundup

Dean Marney has been sold to Hull City signing a three year deal. Although promising he never had the pace to succeed, in my opinion, at the highest level and especially in the top four which must be where we now have our sights set.

Spurs beat Bordeaux yesterday with the first goal from Defoe. He has apparently arrived back in training with a top class attitude clearly with a point to prove after the World Cup squad selection disaster that ultimatly led to England's downfall in Germany. Berbatov and Assou-Ekotto made their debuts.

Ledley King will make his return to full fitness tonight in a friendly against Nice. Robbie Keane is out injured with a pulled neck muscle.
