Zokora almost confirmed

Spurs have confirmed today that they are in advanced talks with Zokora and his club. This is quite unsurprising as it was in the News of the Screws today and the pictures provided by "Lennon's Jet Boots" made it clear what we were up to.

Lets hope the club confirm sooner rather than later as we don't want it being sabotaged late on!

I'm off on school journey with the kids so no updates for the week.

Bad signing for me smacks of Rebrov another player who has a reputation that he don,t deserve. Huddlestone would be a better bet and it also means Carrick is off which will be a disaster after tonights performance. Lennon what a star in the making bring on Duff and Bridge . After tonight I would give Kuyt a miss he looks shit

Zokora will be a great addition after his displays in IC's group matches. It may mean carrick goes but if he doesn't want to be part of our great future then let him go I say. We only want committed players. At 14m it is a great return on the original investment, and will enable us to further strengthen our squad. I trust MJ's judgement completely, and the additions he has made so far will only strengthen our positionnext year. I'd like to see chimbonda and Kuyt arriving at the lane once the world cup is over.

from what i've seen, zokora will be a great player in the spurs team and the premiership. he's like a steem train he gives his all and works hard throughout. anyone who gets in his way will simply be flattened. 15 mill 4 carrick ? why not i'd like to see duff and chimbonda in aswel personally. duff and lennon on either wing! a strong team and squad all round! watch out gooners its our turn to rule north london now!

I am getting really annoyed with people saying we should cash in on Carrick. Everyone needs to realise, we don't sell one of our best players to our rivals, it will be a step backwards. Everyone is listening to paper talk, that Carrick wants to leave us. We don't know that, Carrick is a unique player and there is no one else like him. Zakora is a replacement for Davids not Carrick. Come on Spurs fans, be positive.

I have no problem letting Carrick go, especially for that money.

I don't rate him as one of the top 3 players at Spurs even. King and Robbo for me are integral to the team.

Lennon to me is the most exciting prospect this country has at the moment, and I've been saying it since the debacle at Grimsby early season.

Carrick will NEVER be the dominant midfielder people are hoping he will be. He will never fulfill that side of his potential in my opinion.

Yes, MJ wants both Carrick AND Zakora. Not sure how he would accomadate them with Jenas as we have Lennon and we need a left winger. We should keep Carrick unless he's desparate to move.

Yes yid1 that red card count does seem high, but hopefully MJ will sort him out and he'll be just what we are looking for - a young Davids...get in!...6 million isn't much compared to what the Chelsk paid for Essien either. If Carick wants to go we haven't got a choice but to sell him,if he doesn't, Im sure MJ doesn't want to sell him either, time will tell.

I think Kuyt looked a good leader of the line today...okay should have scored though. Has not featured much, we might be able to get hold of him if we want...before everyone starts calling me spoilt, how good would that be!? 4 top strikers...a new midfield dynamo and hopefully a new top class left winger and 2 new full backs Trabelsi or Chimbonda plus Bridge?...yes please MJ!

I am thinking that Jol is heading towards us playing a 4-3-3. He's been a long admirer of that formation, and listening to him on BBC and reading his column in the Sunday Times i become more and more convinced it is the case.

We would play with Lee converting to RB (as he has done for Korea in this World Cup), Jenas - Carrick - Zokora across the middle, with Lennon - Berbatov - Keano in a three pronged attack

With options like Ghaly, Huddlestone, Defoe and Tainio on the bench, we have options to revert to the 4-4-2 or 4-5-1 if we ever needed to to protect a lead.

I hope i am right :D

1.39 i think your talking rubbish ! where is the width? dont think this will happen, but you never know......
i think jol is resigned to losing carrick. zokora plays in the same position and neither him nor carrick will be content to play bit part roles. 15 mil for carrick, 7 for zokora, prob a couple of mil to west spam as a sell on clause = 6 mill profit to strengthen other areas. good business i think.

I wonder if Zokora's arrival is more of a threat to Jenas than Carrick. The weakest part of Carrick's game is tackling so maybe Jol's thinking of playing Zakora at the back of midfield with Carrick further forward using his new found dribbling skills (remember that run into the box at the library?) and being the creative midfielder that Jenas is just short of being. Not that I don't rate JJ but he looks to me more like a very useful back-up/utility player than a first choice middle man.

Just a thought.

El, I can see what you're saying, but looking at it from that point of you, we could even say he is the replacement for Davids or Tainio,as well as Jenas, as he seems to be a great all round midfield lynchpin. However it is Carrick- our current midfield lychpin who is the subject of "leaving" speculation so thats why he is being touted as his replacement.I like others believe they could compliment eachother as they are slightly different. If Carrick decides to leave,we won't have the luxury of that choice. If he stays for sure Jenas, Davids and Tainio will not be guaranteed a place, as someone would have to makeway in those central midfield spots, and I could not see Jol dropping Carrick. And thats without even mentioning Huddlestone, Murphy and Ghaly.

I believe this signing would bring the best out of both carrick and jenas, because I think Jol is leaning towards a 3 man midfield, with 2 wide men ala chelsea. For Essien read Zakora, for Ballack read Carrick, and for Lampard read Jenas. Ok slight mismatch in quality with Lamps and JJ but the balance is the same. with Lennon and hopefully Duff/keane offering the width and Berbatov up front, this could be the way forward. Dutch coaches like playing a 4-3-3 that can switch to 4-5-1.

So assuming we get duff or any left winger, that leaves Keane & Defoe on the bench for much of the season then?
Hmmmm.......
Having said that, a five man midfield appeals to me. Maybe Keane could be the link man beside Carrick? Anyway we'll find out soon enough. I cannot wait for next season to start already. I've been wondering, do you think we could be favourites in the eufa cup? I don't know much about who else is involved.

I think that maybe Jol will change between 4-5-1 and 4-4-2 depending on the game or home/away. I'm sure Keane will fit in somewhere. I think we should be one of the favourites, i'll be betting on us, no matter the price.
