Further transfer news.

Reputable posters Ben and Noodles on FTL have confirmed what I also heard yesterday that Carrick is going for sure - £15 million with rumors of another player thrown in but no one seems to know who so that part of the deal could be rubbish. £12 million pounds profit on a player that is worth maybe £8 million tops is good business as long as the money is well invested. On that front it appears that Zakora will be tied up soonish.

Carlton cole is no longer coming (shame) because of a dodgy medical. We are still looking at options for the left with a Chelsea man a main target but not sure if it will happen or not.

Once again www.fromthelane.co.uk is the place you need to be for all the latest.

Its bull****, he isnt going anywhere, Spurs have rejected a 15m offer, and Jol says he doesnt want to sell him, and thats good enough for me.

Carrick is dreadfully overated so let's have the cash! I get the impression we probably will get Zakora and could very well get Bent too. Let's keep Defoe as he is FAR better than Cole. Even with all this I still think we need a left back(Chimbonda/Bridge?)along with a creative midfielder(are there any realistic options?)and a left winger (Duff anyone?)

We got a left back(assou-ekotto) and hopefully we can get duff, that would be ideal. Carrick is not overrated hes a quality player and as we dont need the money and dont have a player i think is a worthy replacement(Zokora is good but not as good)we should not sell him. Keep Defoe, dont buy bent unless defoe goes. We need a right back and an attacking mudfielder(Like Riquilme) to be a real force next season. If we can get Zokora and keep Carrick ill be very happy.

Hi Lads,
all of this really f**ks me off if carrick wants to go then f**k him off, as for jenas starting is mouth off he can go as well, it gets to me all of this so called super stars and i hope MJ & DL read this.
i will never have a player put on my shirt the only one for me is; Bill Nic the word your looking for is loyalty so if carrick jenas & defoe is reading you will never be bigger or better than TOTTENHAM

If Carrick is refuses to sign a contract on his return, and we can get 15 million for Carrick and definately buy Zokora that will be good business for me, T.Hudd in for Cazza. Not bothered about Stephen Reid not coming, neither C.Cole. We only need world class players to join an already strong squad.

Creative Midfielder bring in Van der Vaart and then surely Kuyt and maybe even Wes Schneider would also come to join the Dutch party...Davids and Jol to use their influence...I wish...haha!

Realistically though Bent is ok and proven if the rumours are true, dont know how this stands with Defoe though.

Would be happy with Duff at Left Mid, experienced and proven in the prem, has his Irish mate Robbie here too...COYS!

Spot on Daws. What people also fail to realise is yes Carrick cost us £2.75M but selling him for £15M doesn't mean we make a 'profit' of £12.25M because it will cost us AT LEAST that to buy a player of similar ability. The 'profit' bit we already have, in the fact that we ALREADY HAVE a £15M midfielder, but he only cost us £2.75M. Selling him is a pointless exercise because we want to be competing with the Man Utd's and Arsenals of this world, not selling our best players to them to put us further behind them.

I wonder how long Man Utd will wait before deciding to go elsewhere. Man Utd will not start the pre-season without a new central midfielder, and once they have bought a different player Carrick will sign a new deal, just like Keane, Daws, Lennon and King.

Sell Carrick if only he wants to go and no less than £18 million and hopefully £10 or £12 million cah + Van Nistelrooy and sign Patrick Vieira for £5 million alongside Zokora £7 million or/and Yaya Toure..get rid of Murphy or/and Ghaly and sign Duff...see you in the CL 2007/2008.

Our club will not sell Carrick. It was disccued by the Spurs Board and the Man Utd £15M offer was rejected.

It would be good move to sign Zakora - long term replacement for Davids. We need to see what Ghaly can do before passing any judgement on him. I agree about selling Murphy.

But, Patrick Vieira is certainly not worth buying - his ability is on a downward slope.

Very clever site just the same as down at the lane, why would one blog avertise another? However as a season ticket holder in the PaxtonI will make the following comments for discussion if you wish. Carrick is one of the best players in the world in his position...laugh...have a look at how mant M.O.M he has had for England when he has played a full game. Sven won,t play him now preferring Hargreaves so is there a attitude problem there. If he won,t sign sell him otherwise we will have a campbell situation on our hands again. Duff will sign, we,re not interested in Zakora he wants the move not us same as Reid, Bent will sign for £11 big risk and that will be that. Perkart (sorry about the spelling) will be our fourth striker next season. Huddlestone is the main mover for next season as Ghaly is off
Please discuss

i for one dont want to many changes we need a good left back lee can go on the right he is and was a right back at psv left back bridge, bring in zokora for davids, and duff, a good all round buy i think would be barry still only 25 very good cover for left side with the games we got coming up.
carrick would like to keep him but if he wants out we will have to let go then i would like to see yaya toure,i dont think that carrick will go but if he goes i feel sure tottenham will move on DL will not let another sol happen, we will find another carrick and the players that are staying will be another year better than last.

I wouldn't mind if we got that Zokora if Carrick does leave. I have seen him in the two games he has played in the World cup and he looks very good indeed. Only concern is how he would do in the winter. He looks energetic though. Something which Carrick doesn't always seem to be.

Rammo and Daws, agree with the principal of not "wanting" to sell our top players...but I am afraid if he really wants to go he will, thats the power of a player these days. Yes the alternative is we dont let him leave for now...but then we risk either losing value on him next year as his contract runs down or losing him for absolutely nothing- a la Sol Campbell. Then why should we keep a player who's heart is not in the club anyway...we are not a one man team anymore. Parklane67 if he wants to go he will for other reasons known only by himself despite a payrise, as he will get that at manutd anyway. But I agree with whoever said it is not a done deal yet, as right now his priorities lay in Germany, he might stay after a BMJ chat who knows, but if he wants to still go after that, let him for the best price, we'll only know the truth after England get home.

If we turn down one more offer over £15 mil. for Carrick ,it will be a clear statement to the footballing world that we are not a selling club and dont need the money,so no one should try and break up our squad, besides arse can not afford Carrick at even £15 mil.or how about in retaliation if we offer to swap him with Ashley Cole+some cash? (that will be fun),also if we sign Duff,Van Nistelrooy,Zokora,Yaya Toure and a.n.other quality centre half that will be fantastic, besides Hatem Trabelsi is a free agent now and available on Bosman free..sell Murphy,Jackson and get rid of the deadwood..Spurs must keep Carrick though ,even to stop other players to think that we are a selling club,we must stand strong here,it is very important for our future.

We need to Keep Carrick, No club ith ambition wants to sell their top players, especially to a club that we want to challemge for future honours.
That said if he really wants to go then we have no choice, but at present no news is good news.
We need to go all out to get Duff, a quality player who knows the premiership inside out.
Trabelsi has not impressed me in this W/C, especially against spain where he was ball watching for Rauls goal. Zokora would be good but only if Carrick goes.
Jenas has come out and said he is happy at the lane, so that puts that lazy jorunalists story to bed.
We have a new left back so a right back would do, maybe Lee is the one Jol wants on the right so the full back positions can be covered between Stalty, Lee and Assou Ekkoto, Ghaly must be given a chance and Huddlestone will get his chance this year, I hope he shines. C.O.Y.S,

trabelsi was the best player for tunis last night, look at whats around him, playing for us he would be better of course...Carrick will stay, just needs to be paid whats hes worth.Jenas is fine, more quotes taken out of context...We could use Zokora, and I think hes coming...Benoit/Lee/Trabelsi/Bridge strong full back combo, Huddlestone needs another season, will be better than Carrick??? Why do we need Bent?

Why should we settle for Zakora if Carrick leaves? Surely he would cost 10m+ and probably demand 30k or more a week. If he was that good (and i mean better than Carrick) the manc scum would be after him. Give Carrick the money he deserves, surely he can see we are a team going places and all the other young english backbone players have signed new and improved deals. I would like to see Zakora come to the lane as a replacement for Davids who wont play every game and will definately be gone next season. COYS

Fuck sake guys, get a life - what will be will be!!!!! Stuff all will happen until after the World Cup and there's bugger all you can do about it until then!

for all the rumour mongers and people slagging carrick, murphy, ghaly etc etc, i suggest you go and buy championship manager - you can buy and sell whoever you want then !!!

I can’t believe there are people on here saying Duff would be a good signing. He would cost at least £10 million, probably more. He is small, weak, ridiculously injury-prone, a level below Robben in terms of both pace and skill, has been ‘off form’ (i.e. playing shit) for a year at least, and to top it all off is a complete diving cheat. I don’t want a player like that at Tottenham. It worries me that we are being linked with this second-rate prick, doesn’t say much for Jol’s judgment, another fucking Andy Reid or Murphy moment. The nightmare scenario is that we meekly give in to Man United’s bid for a special player like Carrick (two years left on his deal, why should we sell?) and spunk the proceeds away on this overpriced, overpaid, overrated wanker who’ll sit out his contract on the treatment table.

I agree with 12.01 yesterday - why not put in a bid for Gareth Barry? The lad is English, strong as an ox, athletic, great left foot, good wholehearted attitude and can play in either of the problem positions left-back (shifting YPL to the more natural right flank) or left-midfield. He can’t be happy with treading water at the arse-end of the table, playing under a complete wankshaft. Villa would want big money, but he’s a player with a lot of talent who give 100% and would improve us.

Would be happy with Trabelsi and Zokora joining too, they looked good in the world cup, although Trabelsi is very attacking and with Lennon already ahead of him on the right hope we dont compromise the defensive side too much.

One thing that pisses me off about signing African players is they dissapear every year for the ANC, how many of you feel the same way? why can't they play that damn cup say every 2 years? say every other year there isn't a World or European Championship. Last year this cost us points because of our over reliance on Mido, and Rasiak was a joke as a replacement, took time to adjust.

We would have good midfield cover for Zokora, but suppose we would have to rely on Stalteri or Lee as cover in Trabelsi's absence. Then is our new Assou-Ekoto chosing/playing for France or Cameroon?

I know this concern is still premature as we have not signed either of Zokora or Trabelsi yet, and Carrick isn't African either!..lol, just interested in your point of views thats all.
