Spurs slump

I suppose we were bound to get a nightmare performance somewhere along the line and it just so happened to be here. The scum won as well but luckily Bolton lost. I stick to my prediction made on here a few weeks ago that CL football has been missed this season and it was not today's performance that has led to that but it hasn't helped.

Davids was to blame sadly from the very first minute and all I heard the commentator say for the first 20 to 30 minutes of the game was that Davids had lost Bowyer once again. His failure to pick him up from the start led to a dreadful start. Bowyer made it 1-0 in the 2nd minute. We responded in fits and starts but were back on level terms when Keane headed home from Lennon's cross. However Newcastle was back in front soon after and effectively finished the game when Davids decided to bundle Bowyer over in the box.

We improved in the second half but to be honest we were not going to get back into the game especially when Jenas missed an open goal after doing all the hard stuff like beating the keeper. It wasn't to be.

Jol has to take criticisim today. Davids has been on his knees for weeks now and should not have started and Mido was ineffctive today. Jol should have played Murphey and Defoe in place of these passengers. However, there are still morons around calling for Jol to be sacked which is ridiculous considering we have only lost 7 league games all season. We have usually lost seven games by November!

Spurs should still make the UEFA cup this season but will need to up the performance (both team and manager) for next week.

Well we all know we are not the 4th best team in the country. And we all know who will get it, but Im not going to say it here. The quicker we see a UEFA cup spot as success and not failure for CL the better. Because it is an improvement on last year, but probably not the great revolution everyone's touted. Loads of weaknesses still. What happened to Naybet by the way?

We are not good enougth for the CL.
We need to let all the young players play until the end of the season. It will be good experience for a team of talented youngsters.
Anyway it has been a good season and hopfully well see players like Ifel and Huddlston play more of a part. Davids is not at his best and i would really play him in big games like Manu and Arsenal he cant play week in week out.

i think the time has come for Martin to give Davids a rest. From what i heard today, he couldn't cope with the pace of the game. It's time Murphy or Ghaly took his place, preferably Murphy who can supply us with goals, as we all know he did at Charlton. Maybe we needed this to shock us into remembering that we need to create more opportunities. Bring on Torres for the next season! Cheers.

Why o Why is Routledge at portsmouth why did we sell Mendes.
We are suffering because we have not played a good rotation sistem. We should have kept a big squad till the summer.
Jol and Levy have made some big mistakes with regards to our squad Edman Mendes Paramont and Kanoute should not have left till the summer...But we will still make the UEFA cup, which is not bad.
Jol is a great coach and he will get better remember that he is learning to its his first season as manager and he as done well. But the CL dream is over we are just not at that stage in our evolution.

i thought we would put in a better performance than we did against west brom.........but we didnt. like u say it was games agianst sunderland and wigan that have cost us champs league but this could have been a great win.

murphy needs to be given a chance now for me.......davids needs to be taken out of what is only a bad spell from a great player.

we seem to need a bad performance for us to wake up next game, we cant afford to keep doing this as theres no let up with Arsenal at moment.....maybe we ll beat Man cty next week and scum lose to ManU giving us 5 point cushion again? Whats up with Ledley, hope hes back soon?

davids and carric both need a rest. murphy and jenas centra, reid and lennon on the wings ? give us some width.
cl still achievable, but jol needs to shake things up. this type of defeat has been on the cards for a while.
gonna miss daws now hes banned. king was sorely missed today - anyone know how long hes out ?
still 18 points to play for, man city ur in for a lashback beating !!!
keep the faith - uefa was always the real aim this season - cl a bonus, even if its a disappointment if we miss it.

Well now we know why we were sold Davids. Just as well we won't make the CL coz we're nowhere near ready and I reckon the chance of a decent run in the eufa is better than first round CL embarassment. I remember Keiserslauten only too well. If we make eufa and it's by no means certain, we're at least two quality signings from where we want to be.

Come on you Juve!

martin jol is a fucking idiot!! were 3-1 down and he waits till 20 minutes from the end to bring on defoe, i dont blame if he leaves cos that is taking the piss............mido was ineffective all game as well!!

i've seen him bring him on ealier than that!! what did he expect us to do..............and Davids off in the 88th minute!!! what a load of crap!! he was awful all game and 2 minutes is what he has give to murphy who is actually quite good!! unbeleiveble.........he goes on about a sqaud yet he doesnt use it!! murphy and defoe in next week, and gardner to be shot by wednesday!!!

dawson struggled today because he couldn't play his normal game worrying about the prick next to him too much, he will now miss the next couple of games which means even if ledley gets back fit we have to play the useless twat gardner still, and everyone can see apart from martin jol that davids just aint upto it lately and we should be playing danny murphy, mido was total shit today and i think defoe should get a start again next week.
lennon should've been kept on the pitch as he was the only player that looked like creating anything and davids should have made way for defoe

Paxton Road you are right, Davids has been poor for weeks, and everyone here seems to agree on that, why do managers not see the obvious? Also as soon as I saw King wasn't playing I knew we were in trouble, he's such a massive player for us - we need better quality back up at centre half. But hey, up until this season we used to get beat like this every other week, even last season we lost 6 games in a row, so lets not get too downbeat

Just watched the game here in US on telly...Jol has to put his hands up on this one..Gardner should have been off at half time, as should Davids, with Huddlestone and Murphy on...Mido off after 60 for defoe...Davids needs to know hes not an automatic starter, dont like the Dutch mafia connection Im feeling..WE NEED WIDTH on the right still, playing davids, Carrick and Jenas is too tight, watched them nearly run into each other 4 or 5 times in first half..Agree with reid on left, Lennon on right, Carrick and Jenas in middle..We need a right back Kelly is ok, not good enough yet? Still think uefa is far better for us in the long run, cl would be too soon for the youngsters...

I would jus like to say that the reason why jol hasnt used a rotation system is that many of the players such as gardner jus wont cut it. he sticks to what he believes is our best team becoz it hasnt let us down so far (hell we wouldnt b 4th otherwise!!!). i agree perfectly that players, such as davids needs rotating. But the midfielders we have now, such as murphy and ghaly are inexperienced in how the team plays. once they have time over the summer to work on this i would say that i agree in jol's decisions. U've all lost hope, when if you remember we've been in fourth since Xmas. Until the end of the season arrives we should still hope for fourth and hav faith. This game could be the kick up the backside for them, they need. I mean its worked for newcastle, why cant it work for us. I know we are punching above our weight, but i would be slightly disappointed if we didnt finish fourth because we have been there for so long. even if arsenal were to get the final CL spot through winnin the competition, we wud still have bragging rights that we finished above them.
Keep faith and sorry bout the long comment. COYS

how can u keep saying cl 2 soon the finacial rewards 4 playing in the cl are so great it would really push us on as a club maybe even bring in quality players. who really wants uefa cup its such a poor competition now its the cl that every player needs and looks 4 come on spurs dnt blow such a great oportunity

10:04 PM, April 01, 2006

keep the faith - 18 points still to play for. cl may come too early, but look at the rewards - the attraction for better players plus the financial.
just need to start grinding out results - dont care about the quality of the football, just got to get 3 points in each game.
its time the players started to stand up and be counted, and show they WANT the champions league. i think too many are believing too much of the hype.
wholesale changes next game jol.
huddlestone for gardner ?
reid for davids ?
defoe for mido ?
murphy for carrick ?
thoughts ?

Anon 10.04pm I really agree with you mate that the financial rewards of the champs league would naturally bring in the players we need to bridge the gap for our lack of experience. However our dreams of this happening are on very thin ice now, lets hope we are proved wrong.

I really do believe in reality we are the 5th best team in the prem at the moment and thats where we will finish, although I would love to be proved wrong. However this will still represent very good progress for us but dissapointed like some others that is not quite as good as reaching champs league. And if we dont, I don't think Kuyt or Torres or maybe even Mido will be joining us! Thats why Jol should sign Mido now while we still have the chance.

Vinny.

The author of this blog is very clever posting a comment that he/she knows nothing about and watching all you thicko,s from Park Lane and the Shelf make him/her money. Half the people who talk on this forum are not even Spurs fans but cover themselves with COYS but can,t ask specific quesitions about Spurs history that I have posted in the past. I have been monitering this site for months in for information for my own website that |I will be making available next season. I will end with these comments that you are all free to agree or disagree with

1 - Anybody who thinks Murphy, Defoe, Kelly, Gardner deserves a number is stupid

2 - Anybody who thinks that Huddlestone, Lennon, Barnard should,nt be blooded now is stupid

3 - Anyone who thinks we will sign Kuyt, Torres or anyone else of international class is stupid

4 - Who is the prat that asked for Ghali to play who is he - your stupid

The way forward is as follows

GK - Robinson
GK - Cerny

RB - Salteri
RB - Johnson

LB - Bridge
LB - Lee

CM - Carrick
CM - Huddlestone

CM - Jenas
CM - J Cole

LM - Lennon
LM - Tanio

RM - Beckham
RM - Routledge

CF - Keane
CF - Barnard

CF - Ruud
CF - Mido

I look forward to the abuse that I may receive if anyone on this site has the intelligence to understand my points. I am a true Spurs fan ask yourself the following question who scored 4 and 3 on their debuts for Spurs and what was the score and who was it against. I,ll bet most of you just ignore this post

"How can u say it's too soon for the CL"?
Umm...let's see..........We lost to newcastle........we lost to fulham....
...we lost to leicester........and grimsby......we made very hard work of west brom..........need I go on? CL would be too big a jump. You can't learn much in one or two games. One step at a time. It's more productive in the long term.

Re: 12.10am

I was at that 2nd division game. What's your point? You sound like an angry anorack. And by the way, 'thickos' doesn't have an apostrophe let alone a comma, 'monitering' is spelt monitoring, the apostrophe in 'shouldn't' comes between the 'n' and the 't' and Gardener has two 'e's. I wouldn't normally bother correcting but you claim to be writing a website. Can't wait to read it.

Go on the Spurs!

to 12.10am the anon "Mr Genius"

Dont agree, that Defoe and Murphy not good enough. Defoe has shown his class and Murphy deserves a chance to show what he's capable of. If he's no good after that then ditch him but hes hardly played yet.

In your so called must be squad, who's to say that we have more chance of getting Ruud VN, Joe Cole, and Beckham as they are all key players for their clubs. It is yet to be seen whether they will be available and whether they choose to come to Spurs just the same as Kuyt and Torres. You are only speculating on here no more than everyone else, so i don't know what is so special about your info "Mr Genius". If any of these players are available Im sure Jol and Levy will look into them after the world cup showcase, as well as any other players who have impressed at the finals. It is all yet to be seen and none of us have a right to tell other Spurs supporters they are "stupid" for opinions based on speculation much the same as your own opinion.

Vinny.

The reason why we lost today is because King didnt play.

If you look at the first 2 goals that we conceded, if Gardner didnt day dream and has stretched his bloody legs in time, both goals should have been block. Please sell Gardner, I believe Davenport or at least Huddlestone will not be that bad.

Even though Mido has scored 11 goals, he is not the type of striker can bring us up to next level. He is simply not good enough.

I also doubt Kelly's defensive capability and I think we need to strengthen in this department.

3:47 AM, April 02, 2006

Anonymous Anonymous said...

Everyone here saying it is too soon for CL is missing the point. If we were to qualify that would mean an extra several million pounds in revenue which would mean we could strengthen the squad with world class players that only want to play for a team in the CL. We would have a squad to compete.

We are not far off being a very good team - 4 signings should do it. Let's keep the faith and back us to make it. 6 games left and 18 points up for grabs - yes it is going to be hard but I think many people here focus far too much on the negatives and the points we have dropped rather than all the great results we have had especially from being a goal or two down - only West Ham have got more points than us in this situation.

We have bouncebackability these days and I am still backing us to make CL.

Why is Gardner still at the club is beyond me. The guy is simply not good enough. As for holding on to 4th spot, seems unlikely the way the Arse is playing. Got to blame Real Madrid for their inept performance at the Bernabeu. That game gave the Arses them back the confidence they lacked in earler games and they are now flying! Pray we don't get hammered when we meet the scum. We have been in a false position for a while now..the team is not playing well and not dictating teams despite results, MJ may be good at man management but seems to lack tactical acumen. We seem to be playing like the away team while at WHL. Davids needs a rest...and Gardener needs a permanent rest! Everytime he's in the team sheet we lose.

Florida Pete here again...I think you CL guys are still missing the point..We have money, we dont really NEED the extra from CL this year..If we finish 5th, which is where we will finish, (erm The Arse away, Man U, Bolton, who always shaft us, all coming up?) Uefa will be great for the youngsters,Its not gonna stop quality players from coming to such a great place..Who would you rather play for, us or a bunch of French and African misfits...Its all about getting dominance over arse in the next 2-3 years...Rome wasnt bulit etc.....

I have followed spurs for 42 years, so I remember the good times. What really confuses me are the following
. Davids is a liability, why are we not playing Huddlestone , Murphy
. Lee is useless probably one of the poorest left backs we have had
. Mido is overated, play Keane and Defoe as main strikers
. Give Ifil a run at Right Back
. Why we are not using Routledge and Zeigler is totally beyond me
I do not understand Jols thinking at all

No one here actually criticise Carrick, unbelievable..He has been below par for half the season and isn't the player he was in last season.Jol talk a lot about his "nicks" but you can calculate the number of nicks on a pair of hands for the last few matches.

He was culpable for the 2nd goal by Newcastle as he was culpable for the Ist goal by Chelsea.

More infuriatingly , he looks disinterested and don't provide quality cover to the back four and is one of the prime reason why our defensive perfomance drop so dramatically...WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE BOY !!!!!!
