Mido could be off.

Rumors eminating from Spurs sound like Mido could well be returning to Roma at the end of the current campaign. Apparently we are having trouble agreeing a fee to begin with. As Roma are happy to keep him now after a change in coach i expect their valuation is now a little high. Mido has also lost his fitness a little and always looked like he was on the brink of being fully fit and unfit. His knee is now playing up. Rumors of a bust up at various times of the season may or may not be true but there is usually no smoke without fire...

While I think Mido has done a good job overall this season I fell for a little bit more money we can get a better option that is fully fit.

Mido was great until he went to the Africa nations cup, but has lost his form since his return. I like him, but agree that we could sign someone better for that sort of money. Also I think our recent performances have improved so much more since he as been injured as we are no longer just hoofing the ball to him. Defoe and Keane are starting to look ok upfront together.

Does anyone actually care anymore?
Spurs are now potenially a Champ League team and definitly a European one.
Mido may have shone early in the season, but all he has been since is someone for Robinson to pass too. We need much more quality than that for £6m (wchich is what Roma are now asking for).
I would rather take Lua Lua for around £2.5m or push the boat out for Gudjonsson or Torres.
Hes also shown he hasn't lost the attitude which followed him in his earlier career with his sulk in the African nations, good ridance mate, good luck in the Roma reserves!!!

i too like mido, but he hasnt done enough to warrant anything like £6m. he hasnt scored enough goals, will be going to African cup every two years, and he puts on weight like a motherlover. He put on about a stone in a month and looked really slow and cumbersome on his recent outings. I am worried about what the alternatives might be. We really need a good big athletic striker. What about elhamdaoui he looked good in pre season

lost whose mind ? i dont understand. was getting an interesting blog, until some idiot spoils it with stupid comments.
MJ prob does have 2 lists depending on UEFA or CL qualification. rumours persist in who though. if we believe all the rumours, we could have a squad of 100 players !!
he has publicly said he wants a squad of 23/24, so 2 for each position.
general opinion seems to be LB, RB, LM and striker at least. the summer merrygoround should be fun, esp if the relegated clubs decide to cash in on their quality players.
COYS - sign off at home in style on sunday. about time we racked up a cricket score.

I'm sure I read last year that Mido's loan deal had a buy clause in in it for @3million. In fact I saw this several times what happened there?

Agree with comment tho' I too think if he's given a contract he'll mess us around something rotten. Time to move on.

As for Keane and Defoe, I must say that a good poaching forward would have a hatful from the service this year especially in the past 6 weeks. Both like to run at a defence, Keane can tap them in but Defoe can't, its one of the reasons West Ham went down, he missed sitter after sitter from the edge of the 6 yard box and he's missed a good few for us.

Last week Utd had two chances and buried them...how many did we have? Same with the Arse. We need a new first choice striker..Kuyt for me at any (reasonable) price

Defoe is clearly a player that thrives on confidence. He is capable of both, the sublime and the abyss, and the trick is how to bring out the best in him.
Events over this season is having a effect on him, he needs to recover from it.

As for Mido, we can let him go.Our horizon has enlarged. Its the same with Mendes, Davis, Edman, Atouba, Naybet. They have serve us well but they have serve their time. We must not let this Spurs bandwagon from stalling and losing momentum.WE SHOULD BE LOOKING TO IMPROVE EVERY SEASON.

They are players who would be our backbone for years to come, in my opinion, Defoe,Dawson, Huddlestone, King, Lennon, Robinson, Keane,Carrick and Jenas are the only untouchables.

We would need to renew the squad if it wants to go from strength to strength and start challenging for honours.

In the beginning of the season, some of you guys says that we should not take short cut by disrupting the squad by bringing in new players and we would need to give the squad tiem to develop.Hope you see the folly of your arguments now.We need the experienced, the stop-gaps to make that incremental leap.

How much leap we need to take next season, we depends on the next 2 weeks.I agree with some here that the players we can target would depend whether it is going to be CL or UEFA.

If CL, we could let Mido go and convince for the likes of Torres and Kyut to come.If UEFA, and those two is unwilling to come, we have to bide our time and go for the humbler options existing in the EPL.

The irony is that if we get the CL place, the financial risk is even greater. We don't want to end up like Everton last season. When their big purchase was a certain Simon Davies !

We need to buy big and from my estimation it would cost up to 50~60 mil just to ensure we can compete on both fronts, the EPL and the CL concurrently.

Re: spursni

I agree with needing two fullbacks but keeping Mido? He gives us something different alright, an inconsistant, fat, petulant, player on the field.
We should be aiming higher than mido. Someone aggressive, fast, athletic and who bangs em in for fun.

If defoe could get it together and develop another facet to his game he could be our raoul or shevshenko. I think he focuses too much on making room for a shot by himself. If he can learn to use another player in or around the box to create a chance I think he'd crack it. At the moment he's too easy to defend against. Here's hoping.

I think we have been very unfair to Lee.Replace him b'cos of one uncharacteristic mistake against Man U?
I was watching the Man U vs match with a buddy who is a Man U fan.He admire Lee and said that he is a better player than Park JS.I agreed with him.
Lee crossing has improved recently and has been rather solid with his defending apart from that mistake.
We should give him a chance.MJ would not have requested Bridge during the Jan transfer to play left midfield if he has no faith in Lee.Trust his judgement.

A few points:

Lee has never played right back in his life. He played left back for both PSV and South Korea. He's a right footed left back and, if we were to get a left footed left winger, the two of them could work very well together.

I do get tired of people describing Mido as 'lazy'. It's sloppy and it's rubbish. The man has a number of flaws in his game and he has an ongoing fitness problem, but he charges all over the pitch every time he plays (too much, he should spend more time in the box) and knackers himself in the process. It's the opposite of 'lazy', it's bad judgment and wasted energy.

And finally: I was at the Man U match. They had a hell of a lot more than 2 chances. Try about 6. The single biggest thing holding our young team back at the moment is the inability to turn a half hour of domination into more than 1 goal. You can bet they will be doing some work on this over the Summer.

Squad looking good but need some real finished products to add to it. I am looking forward would like to see ghaly, huddlestone, elhamadoui and barnard play more at EPLK level to see what they have got - i reckon they are all potential good players for the future.

great news that tainio playing this sunday, we always seem to play/do well when he is in the team.

i think we will win 2-0 on sunday against Bolton, and Arse will draw at Sunderland! cant wait to hear the goons squirming and whinging. funny how they were not coming on our sites all year up until three weeks ago - once they finally opened their eyes and realised the power shift IS actually happening, and now they are shitting themselves!
