Spurs win.

Spurs took all three points yesterday despite being under pressure for much of the second half.  Blackburn will feel agrieved that they failed to take at least a point but it is about time we had the rub of the green afetr failing to take anything from games where we deserved to - Villa at home and Fulham away spring to mind.

We took a commanding 2-0 lead with Keane scoring both goals, the first one a peach of an effort.  He flicked the ball over Savage, went round Todd before beating Freidel.  The second was from a well worked free kick, Friedel making a good save from Mido's shot and Keane there to knock home the rebound.  2-0 and game over.

However, in true Spurs style, we went to sleep a minute later and Blackburn pulled a goal back giving them hope for the second half.

The start of the second half saw a Blackburn onslaught.  We did not help ourselves because we just sat back and allowed them to come on to us.  Eventually, and unsurprisingly due to the way we were playing, we broke and Blackburn scored the equaliser.  I then fully expected them to push on and we would lose the game but we suddenly pushed on and started pressurising Blackburn and forced some errors from them for a change.

Lennon was on by now and his pace created the third Spurs goal.  Murphy also played and was much better making some great passes around the middle.

Lots of criticism was thrown at Jol later for switching Lennon to the left but as usual these people fail to see the bigger picture.  With Tainio and Davids not fit enough for 90 minutes we had to use substitutes and the people who came on forced Jol to switch Lennon to the left.  Jenas, Murphy and Carrick would all be wasted on the left side so it was logical for Lennon to make the switch.  He is more effective on the right but the personell on the pitched made the change necessary.

Defoe sulked off down the tunnel as his substitution never materialised.  I felt a bit sorry for him as he had done well in the previous games but Keane was clearly the right choice today.  I get the funny feeling that if Spurs do sign Kuyt or Torres then Deoe will be off in the summer.

So Spurs win and have a five point cushion.  The mafia is next.

I thought Dawson was outstanding yesterday, he never gives less than 100 per cent and his ariel ability is something to behold. I hope we quickly move to secure him on a long term contract, (hasnt he only got one or two seasons left on his current one), as Liverpool seem to have realized what a huge mistake they made in not signing and are keeping close tabs on the situation

Blackburns own bloggs said that was possibly there best performance of the season, and i didn't see to many clear cut chances. We defended like men in the second half but, we invited them on and paid the price. What i am proud of is the never say die spirit we have, a thing that has been missing from many previous spurs teams. COYS

A needed victory, given that your run in is much harder than Blackburn's. You've got it much harder, but it should be possible.

Great game Tottenham, fair play lads. We have new fight in us this year and its a pleasure to see.We dug in when needed fair play to blackburn mind you there a good side. What we do have is lots of quality players each of them able to win you a game wit a moment of class. Robbie Keane = legend. What a goal not many in the world could score one of that caliber alround delighted bring on Chelski...

Now, to the invading gooner, listen up, your getting abuse of me for two reasons in particular, for having the cheek to get on here and try and be funny when your not and beacuse your team is crap this year but you lot still think your great...pathetic really

you should stick to your own site u muppett. Your teams not good enough this year Madrid victory or no Madrid victory. That was a one off game against a non-existant team. Its now gone down from Madrids point of view, as their worst performance ever. Infact, it was so bad it deflated their president enough to leave. But aren't yous great..yeah right pull the other one. Then you lost to Blackburn well done lads. You then followed that up with a great win over Fulham..give me a break... that was one of the worst defensive midfield performances froma home team of any football team any where in the world ever.Shut up scumballs your not what you used to be and you know it. Csnt wait for us to deny you CL because you aint going to win it and them I'll actually drive Henry to the airport and laugh at him flying to Barca. I suppose Cole can get the same flight and bus to Madrid.Silly little gooners what are going to do with yous...?

Err.. after that last post I hope we don't fuck up and arse*** pick up during the rest of the season or we'll look like right twats! Get your point though. They appear to be sinking this season and they know it. The madrid game was a joke and the goons will probably win nish this year. Most goons I know are paying us more attention than their own lot at the moment. Long may it continue.

Go on the Spurs!

we will have to win at least six of our last ten games to get that cl spot. now be honest, how many of you think that is going to happen - seriously. please also remember, you pussy-holes, that arsenal always finish strongly. looking at our run in and our recent displays we will only finish fourth if other teams also lose most of their remaining games. i think we should enjoy our current position but we just make our selves look ignorant of the facts when we go overboard

despite the win, I don't think we are good enough to clinch that CL spot. Our run in is just far tougher than our rivals; Bolton, Arsenal & Blackburn.

But Jol is right, at the moment, our fate is in our own hands, as long there is a opportunity, we all can hope. If the lads treat the next 10 games as Mido puts it as 10 cup finals and outfought the other teams, heavens know what can happen.

We were either visibly tired or nervous in the second half last Sunday and that is the story of our season so far; againts good and bad teams; Sunderland, West Ham,Fulham, Arsenal, now Blackburn.

You can't fault the tactics,; scored a goal and try to remain tight in midfield and defence.Let the other team try to find a way through our defense and hit them on the break.

I don't concurred that Blackburn play us off the park. The best chances still fall our way and not blackburn and we could have beaten them by another 2 goals; Mido and Keane miss.

My only concern is the organization of the team when we sit back and defend.Other than Carrick, Dawson and King, the rest of the team is all at sea when under pressure.Dawson is simply amazing.

Wish that gooner would at least make up a name so we could play with him a bit more!

By the way, I understand Henry has a taxi booked to run him to the airport, but it's great to see our fans are prepared to help our soap dodging gaylord neighbours.

great win for spurs. still not convinced the balance is right. davids and tainio not fit. would love to see huddlestone paired with carrick allowing carrick to get forward more, with ziegler left and lennon right.
think king needs to be more of a captain and gee the lads up now and again.
defoe needs a game soon.
other than that, looking good.
can only throw it away now - everyone saying we have a hard run in which we do, but am sure the other teams challenging for europe are not looking forward to playing us ! let them worry about us !!
