Benitez talks rubbish.

Benitez has spouted mroe rubbish this time towards Spurs are Jermaine Defoe.  He claims that Spurs are "desperate" to sell Defoe.

Daniel levy had this to say on the official site:

"I find today's reported comments by Rafael Benitez beyond belief. Not only are they completely untrue, but it is unprecedented that any manager should comment in this way on another team's player. It could in fact be interpreted as a direct and blatant attempt to unsettle Jermain.

There is absolutely no basis, let alone any element of truth whatsoever, in Benitez's claim today that we are looking to sell Jermain. We have not had a single conversation on this point with Liverpool or any other club so I fail to see how he can make this statement. Additionally, for the avoidance of all doubt, we have previously said and I repeat, we have absolutely no intention of making an offer for Cisse or Saha. On all these issues, I resent having to put the record straight when it should never have been put into question.

I should expect that Mr Benitez on reflection, withdraws his wholly inappropriate, unprofessional and inaccurate comments. They do him no credit."

I agree completly and Benitez can sod off if he thinks his remarks will be allowed to unsettle a player that will be key to Spurs future.

hes obviously playing mind games. This is what happens when you mix it with the big boys. We all know it bs merely a ploy to unsettle Defoe. If its found Defoe wants to go then so be it but this is just messing around I think.

benitez is a disgrace!! how dare he try and unsettle our club when it wasn't even us who have caused this. i think daniel levy reacted brilliantly to this rubbish from the liverpool boss. i think levy has done fantastic in rebuilding the spurs in a short space of time. all spurs fans should absolutley agree with him

as for defoe, i hope we don't sell him. he is too good to lose, who could we replace him with?! no one is the answer.

liverpool should feel disgraced tonight benitez needs to keep his thoughts to himself. i believe that defoe's agent is up to his old tricks and scouting his player. it is a shame that defoe doesnt spend more time getting his head down and fight for his place like keane did, if he gets in the world cup squad it will only be down to hard work.

Even though these reports are rubbish, I sadly feel that Defoe will leave in the summer. Especially if he doesn't make the world cup squad, as it would be mainly because he hasn't been playing for us alot lately. I like Defoe though and would love him to stay. I thought he was very impressive against Birmingham last weekend. He has alot of quality and I hope that I am wrong and that he will stay on for next season.

Benitez just shot himself the foot, if he thinks his dirty mind games is going to get him Defoe.Levy, if he contemplates selling Defoe would put Liverpool the last option after Benitez despicable act.
If we do sell Defoe (and I hope we don't), lets sell him to Chelsea...we probably get a few more quids than from the paupers from merseyside.Maybe we get Robben or Cole in the bargain.

As for Liverpool, my middle finger up...

So Lee Dixon thinks Drogba saying he dives sometimes was a language problem.

But for that to work, we have to have an idea what he might have understood by the question. Do you fall????? It doesn't make sense.

It's hard to see how it was just a misunderstanding / mistranslation.

Here's another interpretation: one might argue he was showing a peculiar supercilious disdain for the whole massive cash-cow that's turned him into a rich superstar.

Perhaps he's been reading too much Camus.
