Spurs move for Lee

Spurs look like they are going to strengthen the back four once more and purchase Lee Young-Pyo from PSV. The left side was weakened (or strengthened depending on your point of view) when we offloaded the worlds best left back, Atouba, to Hamburg. This only left Edman in that position and although solid he does sometimes get caught and likes to haul players down in the box. He was injured against Chelsea and thus Kelly played there. He did well but he is a right back and we cannot be expected to play players out of position on a regular basis.

Gus Hiddink told the BBC:

"There are still some discussions going on, but there is a strong chance that he is going to Tottenham Hotspur.”

Speaking as a Asian spurs supporter, the Lee signing is a novelty.
Not only that, you get good old fashioned hard work and a winner attitude from a Korean player. They certainly don't play with a inferiority complex. The world testified to that in WC2002.
Who knows... we must just steal the multi-million Samsung sponsorship deal from Chelsea !

I am sure that you must be joking when you say that Kelly did well against Chelsea. We have debated at length the part played by the referee in our downfall but we have tended to overlook the poor figure cut out by our young wingback. He gave away a needless corner which led to the first goal and was roasted by SWP for the second. I am not sure whether one should write him off or to allow him some more time to gain experience. At the moment I am inclined to do the former.

Many fullbacks had been and will continue to be roasted by SWP...thats why the man costs 20mil.
I remebered Carr being toyed by Bergkemp when he was a youngster and I feel the same as you do.Later he was voted into the Premiership XI.The exciting thing is that Kelly has more potential than Carr, definitely taller at least : ) We have not seen the best of him yet.
As for Lee, he may well just be our new Chris Hughton...marauding runs down the left... well that sure brings back memories.

SWP was the difference between the two sides he came on and beat the crap out of Kelly.. But this is not an excuse when the sending off occured, Edgar and team really rose to the occasion with end to end running against 11 gifted players. In the second half spurs could not keep up the pace and the real question is did SWP get the advantage over kelly because he was dog tired playin on the left.. I saw Edgar give away some needless passes.. Bring me down to reality Edgar is not super human ( yet 2 1/2 games under his belt).. Kelly looked fantastic in preseason. He gets his first chance of this campaign on the wrong side 11 against 10 agaisnt the probable champianship winners..I think we must be careful to declare him second rate. I have to admit I was impressed by Rieds work rate..My only gripe is a that RK was not brought on .. I would have sacrificed the right wing and had him pressurising the defence .. we had nothing to lose as we were already losing..

i believe that lee-young-pyo will be a tremendous asset for spurs. He has pace, tenacity and can dribble better than anyone else in the team (with the possible exception of Davids). For 1.35m pounds its an absolute steal!!

You must remember that Kelly was played out of position at LB when he's a right back. and against SWP, most LB's will get skinned, let alone a stand in...
