Spurs 0-2 Rob Styles

Spurs lost 2-0 today to Rob Styles and his brand of appalling ability at being a ref. A blind man would have done a better job after today’s appalling efforts by the muppet in black. Goals from del Horno and Duff ensured the Champions left with all three points.

Spurs started brightly and just about edged the game in the early exchanges. Defoe looked sharp and Mido was causing problems throughout. An excellent move allowed Davids to burst through. Essien (24 million my arse) hacked him down and looked like the last man but Styles, probably recently wined and dined on the Mafia’s yacht, only gave him a yellow. Minutes later Mido challenged for a ball with his arms raised. Styles run as fast as his little legs would carry him to show him the red card even though he was 40 yards away and the linesman was closer. As usually thought with these egotistical referees, he decided he was far too important to take on anyone else’s view and sent Mido straight off. This, of course, changed the whole game. Chelsea then took the lead from a well-worked corner but it is always disappointing to concede from a set piece.

Lennon replace Tainio at the break and his paced caused Chelsea a few problems but to be fair they controlled the game. They made it safe after a lucky touch saw Duff scramble the ball home to kill us off.

What cannot be faulted is the performance of the team today. Even with ten men we put up a good effort and before Styles ruined the game we were actually putting a lot of pressure on the Russian scum. What can be faulted is the boring football Chelsea played. Even when winning 2-0 they felt the need to pass back from the midfield to the defence and then to the keeper. The Chelsea “fans” may as well have not bothered to turn up as they were silent until the last ten minutes and even then they managed a feeble “Champions” chant. What would be interesting is to see how many Chelski fans can actually spell “Champions”. Not many I expect.

"The public can't be kidded. They know what they want to see, what is good
and what is bad and what is just average. At least I believe they do." We watched a good Chelski side today play dull, boring, George Graham style football. Bill Nicholson, quoted above, would have been appalled by the performance by Chelsea today. They may be satisfied with boring the opposition to the title. We, at Spurs, will never be satisfied with that and it is that belief which makes us the greatest club in the land.

COYS!

I'm surprised that nobody (that I've seen anyway) has picked up on Rob Style's performance in the cup game away to Newcastle last year, just thought it worth a mention thats all.

Agree with everything said & just to mention, we have the best fans in the country, what other team that hasn't won anything for donkeys years can sell 36000 tickets for a friendly and nearly 4000 tickets for an away match at Blackburn on a wednesday night, chelsea cant even sell out their home game against WBA and there the champions, can you imagine what it would be like if we ever win the league? (please god)

Same story, the refs lick the big 3's arses, happened against Man U with mendes' "goal" and now against Chelski with Mido. Two awful reffing decisions againsts us against two of the big three!! What next a penalty and sending off against the Arse because Reyes dived when someone was within 20metres of him?!?! Dont be supprised!!

11 spurs (then 10!) against 12 chelski players (inc Stiles) doesn’t go with the quality of players like SWP. I was there at the match and the Mido decision wasn’t the only shocker. Lets take the positives though, when we went to 10 men we still threatened and I came away from the game proud to be Tottenham because we played some entertaining attacking football. Robinson, Davids and Dawson were all awesome but we need another 'big man' up front because Mido is now suspended and we have that Frank money burning a hole in our pockets! Kuyt will do but even if we don’t get him I still see a successful season ahead on today’s performance. The futures bright, the futures lilywhite.

really fuck styles, unfair to send off Mido, Mido really sad for Spurs, he left in tears,Robinson said in BBC1 that styles told him that decision not for elbow ,but it seems to be dangerous!! you see; "seems". how a referee in premiership judge by "seems" . fuck you styles, and go ahead Mido...

The problem with Styles game was not necassarily the sending off. 25% of referees would have done the same. It was his inconsistancy. Defoe got penalized for baking up - Bollox! Ried got done for the same whilst he was in control of the ball and got booked for getting upset - Bollox! Esien should possibly have had a red card for his trip on Davids 40 - 50% refs sent him off. He then got a good talking to for his challenge on Davids. That should have been a second yellow - Double Bollox. I think that a fairer ref would have 1 Not pulled up Defoe and Reid. 2 Yellow card for Eisens trip. 3 Yellow card for Mido (and a strong word) 4 Second yellow for Esien. Hard line referees are OK but they must be consistent!!!
By the way, anyone notice how Styles stopped smiling and talking to the players after the Mido incident? He also handed us an extra 2 mins of injury time before the interval. STYLES FUCKED UP AND KNEW HE DID.

Watch del Horno in the match before the redcard..he obviously could not handle Mido and to myself it was a typical cynical defender's attempt to milk a red and styles was too stupid/dishonest to even realise it. Who is going to "take out" a defender witn a forearm for *****s sake? If you are going to do it you use an elbow and I know as i copped enough of them.

As for the Essien "yellow", it makes me wonder about either Styles honesty or his vision....how many matches do we have to see distorted results before someone does something or do you have to be in the top 3 to get all of the luck?

i was on my way home from barcelona when i got the result-same old story and when i watched football first when i got through the door thought that we matched them player for player even when we were down to 10 men. Davids and Carrick looked comfortable against Lamps,Makelele and Essien. Lennon looks like he has the potential to be better the SWP-he was electric! Dawson played well and can be the next John Terry. Take all the positives from the game-we are getting there and it is exciting to be a Spurs fan-we need Kuyt and a new left back to cover/replace Edman-Kelly played his heart out against quality oppostion-he is a better at right back and will give 110% to the cause-did anyone else notice Keane talking to Duff as they walked down the tunnel-he did not look too happy?!?!
We are TOTTENHAM, SUPER TOTTENHAM, we are TOTTENHAM from the LANE!!!

Agree with the senitments of the original post but to say that Chelsea supporters were silent until the last few mins is rubbish. It's true that a number of them hadn't gone to a football match until they bought success but silent they were not. Spurs were in good voice later in the game but to be honest could have done with raising the roof from the off. I felt a sense of apprehension at the kick off and the crowd were somewhat subdued. The calls of 'Yid Army!' were missing from the walk to the ground and it was as tho, somehow, us supporters didn't really believe. While on the subject of support. Why the f*&k do people start to leave before the final whistle. If I were a player I'd be down hearted to see my 'fans' leaving early. Stay, sing, support until the end - whatever the result!

I’m not surprised by the event regarding styles as spurs fan we been victims of his poor judgement too many times and if the game involves Chelsea or one other so called big four he normally finds a way to either send off on of are players .. I just hope the Liverpool –Chelsea was his last game in charge

Charlton v Plymouth Argyle. Rob Styles was random at best and was absolutely lousy at worst. Missed off-the-ball incidents, gave a free kick as soon as an attacker (either side) jumped in the box with a defender close to them, penalised players who had the ball when then failed to move out of the way of people running on to them, gave a free kick for a defender who, having headed the ball back to his keeper, ended up on the floor and had the attacker trip over him...

Absolutely shocking. The FA really need to look closely at his games. One game and/or one set of arguably biased fans is one thing, but time and time again?
