Scum sneak it

The filth have sneaked a win 1-0. They had twenty minutes when they played very well but didn't look threatening otherwise. In fact both teams only had 1 shot on goal each and we actually had 54% of the possession. Just goes to show what a good half time team talk can do as we were out of the game 1st half.

That lot exposed our right side where Dawson and Kelly were playing together and showed that they obviously still lacked experience. When King switched over with Dawson in the second half we looked far more composed and were able to shut out Arsenal with far more ease. Why they didn't make the switch earlier is not clear.

Defoe missed a chance early on when really he should have buried it but apart from that looked poor. His mind appears to be on other things especially with the appalling dead ball which gave possession away. Reid doesn't look good enough and I think Ziegler should take his place against Villa. We only really attacked with urgency when Robbie Keane came on and really should have started in place of Defoe. The other moan is the cheat Cole obstructing and handballing in the penalty area late on but, as usual, the cvnt got away with it.

We never disgraced ourselves but didn't get behind as much as we could have done if we played with width. We stay a point behind 'Boro but they have a game in hand. To be in a chance of Europe we have to win our last three games and hope 'Boro slip up against Newcastle.

The UEFA cup is still within our grasp! COYS!

Sorry, I wasn't aware a Spurs team even showed up. Half of them clearly don't know how much a North London derby means. Disgusting.

When will the much talked about strike force make an appearence. With boro's game in hand it looks a bit dodgy for europe. We showed them to much respect and missed brownie getting stuck into them.

I agree with the previous post. Arsenal showed just how many second rate players we have. In my opinion, only Kanoute, Carrick and Dawson are good enough. Has Martin Jol told any of the other mid-field players to move after they pass...give the man in posession options going forward instead of sideways or backwards...and can the full-backs actually run into the opponents' half and try to get behind the defence...and where are our great young players of the future...look at Van Persie, Fabregas etc. and we have Reid and ? Another season of mediocroty with more to follow next season unless we play all 30 new players at the same time...even then, I would only back Carrick to pass to anothet Tottenham player.....same old same old

I don't know about the Arse having a good twenty minutes when they went 1 up. I think we were the ones who only played well for twenty minutes. The rest of the game they showed us the way we should try to be playing.

In the first half they either played the best football of the season or we failed to turn up. The later I think. Second half marginally better but just couldn't play any decisive pass.

We are better than that but always fail to show it when it matters.

Unless there is a big improvement in desire to win in the last few games the only time I'll be going to Europe will be for my summer holidays...

lets not kid ourselves, if we get into europe its a plus, the fact we have this chance shows how much we've improved on last season, when the ball went back to the back four i wasnt scared like if richards and doherty had been playing, and we did pass well and show passion, we got all the bookings and possibly should have had more, even if we should have had 2 penalties, we have worked at defending, then passing, now we need to perfect the art of attacking, kanoute sometimes holds it up when the quick pass would be best, and remember for most the game they were a goal up so could afford to sit 10 players behind the ball, which we are hopeless at breaking down. so forget your drunken anger, and think how much we've improved, we could have been relagated this time last season, so this is hardly mediocroty

it's a cliche to say we are a young side but we are! they need a bit of time but in the first half i agree we showed to much respect. Keane allows plays with passion and commitment it looks like Defoe has already left the club in his own mind.

I watched the game in a pub which was heaving scum fans both north and mest london. Talking to fans after the game from opposing "sectors" of london, i dont think we have much argument. I hope that im around for the day that I can say that we played the likes of Arsenal or Chelsea off the park but im not very confident that time will come soon. We were awful tonight although we had a couple of chances to nick a point, the game should have been over well before the final whistle. I just hope that we DO make 7th place cos even though we may not challenge in europe, it will hopefully at the very least attract some better calibre of players to the lane..

The strikers were ineffective until Keane came on. Kanoute played like a giraffe on valium. He certainly didn't play like a target man which is the reason given for prefering him to forwards that actually score. He played terrible against Newcastle as well so it must be frustrating for Mido and Robbie to watch

I agree with the last post about Defoe, he looks so lazy, so did Kanoute. I was counting down the time till Mido and Keane came on. I think they should play them for the next few games instead of the half hearted old WHU pair. I just hope Jol understands that with 2 world class strikers on the bench today spurs only turned up when they came on

I don't know what's wrong with some of you people. OK, so we didn't play well, but it wasn't a terrible performance. What do you expect? we've made 20 new signings in 9 months, had three different managers, and still you call it the same old Tottenham unable to achieve anything. We lost narrowly to the best team in the country, we've taken points from the Bridge, Anfield, Old Trafford - doesn't seem mediocre and passionless to me!! You can't blame any defeat on a lack of passion and desire. Sometimes you happen to play a very competent side. The boys tried their best and it's not quite enough yet. Perspective please! We might lose out on Europe, but I'm pretty confident it'll be the last time for years. The future belongs to us.

'the future belongs to us' - I like to think so, but isnt that something us spurs fans have said for years...

I think overall weve done well this year, where the game today showed that there was alot of half hearted players today, not giving 100%

It's true, Arsenal did carve out the better chances, but the price they paid was to play football (and get away with) a horrendously foul spirit, and the ref pretty much only booked our players- something wasn't right there- but that said, we didn't hit the back of the net, which we shoulda done. Reid really needs to slim up a bit- he was huffing and puffing faaaar too early.

But i don't want to sound like a sour grapes SPURS fan (which it is all too easy to do at the moment it seems) - Mido needs to partner Keane, the man has shown he's got the passion for SPURS, and deserves his starting berth. But in an era when SPURS are only just starting to look like when they can play football again, it was a good game (however unclean the Arsenal players made it).

Now we really need focus, and look to how we can pro-actively influence a European push, to paraphrase the Labour party, SPURS must look forward, not back.

HAHAHA, Bitter Spurs boys, Really, you did not deserve a goal and were lucky to lose 1-0, Spurs could have had 2 goals, Defoe & Keane, apart from that nothing! Arsenal could have had 3 from Reyes, 1 from Senderos, 1 from Edu and 1 from Bergkamp, And as for 2 penalties, you wish! World class tackle from Senderos and Keane pushed Cole over! wasen't even a Corner! LOSERS! No Europe!

FOR FUCK SAKES SUPPORT THE TEAM DONT BITCH. true kanoute played bad, defoe didnt look thta intersested at times. Reid didnt have a good game but will get better, he is not fully fit and arsenal are a bit of a better team than someone like cardiff! Dawson looks good and king no need to comment. Carrick played well and i feel for him. keano is great and works his socks off. But cant play those to together when we dont have real fast paced wingers and need to pas the ball better if u have 2 small players. Mido i like alot but he dosent seem to run for the ball after being tackeled. Arsenal played an amazing passing movemnt game today and played amazing at times. The team looked like they lacked abit of belief but hey we have done better than i predicted and jol. new manager who we should stick with for years and new young team. Lets get behind the team if we dont qualify for europe so what our time will come. and if we beat boro and villa which we can do its all on.

Far too many people on here are over-reacting. Of course, it's gut-wrenching to lose to the Scum, but to be fair they played very very well today and it was only 1-0. We were ok, we played hard and committed football (look at the 4 yellow cards) and were able to create a handful of chances. If we'd got Keano's late header, it'd all be a different story today, so lighten up people.
As some posters have said, the progress has been great and our expectations for the season already exceeded.
On the subject of players, I agree its time to rest Jermain for a bit and give Robbie a run-out. Reid has looked decidedly average (not mention fat and slow), but he may come good yet - but for now bring Ziegler back in for the run-in.

Arsenal, sadly, are different class to us. We didn't play too badly but we have some way to go to catch up with them. Our best chance was to make a scrap of it and get a draw, but that would have been undeserved. Instead we tried to match their footballing class and we had no hope of doing that - yet! Shoot me for even thinking this, but they play the way we aspire to. At least now we know how wide the gap is! Come on you Spurs!

I'm bored with people constantly slagging spurs off. If you want overnight success then bugger off to stamford bridge, I have no time for you. Let Frankie and Jolly do the business next year and chalk this year up to team building.... Bring back Pleat? Finishing 14th..... relegation looming..... No thanks, I'd rather be 8th and dissappointed than trying to get a play off place....... And as for scum fans on here.... nothing better to do? to be honest you're unlikely to win anything this season....

I've read through several articles this morning hoping to see if various people/journalists saw the game the way i did...but they didn't.
How Lehmann got away with pushing Defoe i will never understand. Last year he did this to Keano and we got a penalty to make things all square; this year we got NOTHING. No card - red should've been shown, no penalty. WHY??? It was a blatant attack by the blunderer. Cole also has a lot to answer for and the quicker he moves to the West London Mafia the better. A point was deserved, even three could've been earned has we had two penalty appeals ignored.

I agree with alot of what has been said but I cant agree that we deserved a draw! Arsenal were much better than us last night and as much as that sickens me; at the moment we have to accept that they are a better side than us.

But all is not lost we have a good squad of players who will only get better and we just have to be patient. I know that the same thing has been said in the past by spurs fans but this time we have a managerial structure at the club that can deliver results.

So come on we can give one last push this season and finish in a european place!

We were totally outclassed. :-(

Only Carrick looked half decent for us and even his passing seemed to finish right at the feet of an A*****l player.

I'm not going to comment on any penalty claim, suffice to say, Lehman played well and collected nearly all of our pinpoint crosses to him!!!

We do have a young team but maybe too young! I can't remember ever seeing A*****l kick another team off the park!

I can't see Europe happening but do hope. COYS.

Sorry felow spurs fans ..We are not in the same league as the red n white mob. They are classier, more entertaining , more dangerous an have a fitness and spirit which we can only dream about. Fabreas van persy and senderos are the kind of kids we should attract not bloated lumps like reid or crab like carrick. Where was our passion and desire. The JOL effect is a myth. 30 signings but which would get into the scums squad let alone their team. Franky we were shit last night. They should have been 3 up at H T and could have put 7 past us. Yhank the lord Henry wasnt playing ... As for our support, singing was ok till they scored but then silnce. But then thats all our mob deserved.

Europe ? Forget it . with this lot we wouldnt get past fuckin Calais

I think some of you need to get it in perspective. We have made a lot of progress and for all Arsenal's flashy moves they had ONE shot on target and less possession.

Yeah, sacking Jol would be a great idea you twat.

I agree with booting out Jol. Whats he done. I will tell you what hes done. Made us another Graham team. No craft, pace or class. Reid is a plank . Davies ( take your pick )just roams around getting in everyones way. Crrick was comatose against the scum... no passion. Defoe plays for himself and a move to a big club.Mido is not prem class. The defence was o k but henry and lunberg would have scored a few.
We cant judge our team by their standard cos they are a class apart ... yes better than Chelski and Man Poo. BUT ... all our signings are at best for the future.
FANS.... where was your passion at Highbury. No noise ,no fight no nothing. Standing watching em play us off the park is not why your there.. Get behind the team or piss off.

Robinson Led n Jermane have been the diffrence between a chance of europe and relegation zone, JOL...... lets have some quality sigings and not just the biggest sqaud of average players in the prem.
