"It is better to fail aiming high than to succeed aiming low. And we of Spurs have set our sights very high, so high in fact that even failure will have in it an echo of glory." Bill Nicholson. SPURS

We're not afraid of anyone!

Jol produced that superb quote at the end of the 3-0 drubbing of Nottingham Forest. Goals from Pamarot, Keane and Mido ensured that it is us, not Forest, who will make the long journey north Sunday week.

The first half wasn't the most exciting but Spurs were always in control. Keane had a great chance to put Spurs in front and then missed another and Robinson had to make a save at the other end. We had lots of possession and Mendes and Brown combined reasonably well.

The team came out and upped the pace during the second half. Some good build up play led to a well taken corner by Ziegler. Pamarot made a great run across the front of the goal and was able to beat the 'keeper to the ball. It was a well worked set piece and the best corner Ziegler has taken in a while. The celebrations by Jol showed to me that he wants to be here and I cross my fingers that he is come next season. The second goal came from another corner. Ziegler whipped in another fine ball. Brown managed to nod on for Keane to tap in to kill the tie. Keane now has 14 goals this season from 34 appearances with quite a few of them coming on from the bench. It is annoying when I log onto Glory Glory to see the Keane bashers on their again slagging him off. He's our second top scorer this season and played an important role this evening and fully deserves his place at Tottenham Hotspur. The game was all over when Mido, a late substitute for Kanoute, nodded in the third. Brown shot from outside the area but the ball bounced off the bar. Mido had ran in and was able to head home much to the delight of the excellent traveling support. I believe we took almost 5,000 fans tonight. When we compare that with the goons, who only managed to take 2,000 or so yesterday, it shows what great traveling support we have. I also noticed that the chants of "We're the Paxton....." were much louder than the Park Lane ones as well! Well done the Paxton boys!

Overall, a tricky tie and a job well done. Back to league action on Saturday against A'rry Redknapp's old bangers from the car lot.

Good to see your comment re Robbie Keane - what DO the critics want to sell him for? We need him much more than we need the money - Mido despite his 3 goals has still to prove himself over the longterm and would the critics want to find Spurs in the same position as Aholes did the day before - with NO striker available!! We live in luxury at present and are probably the envy even of Arsene Winger!!!!!

We came, we saw, we conquered! Jol is quite right: right now we have no reason to fear anyone. Admittedly the opposition were weak, but I wonder whether we've found another centreback in Pamarot. I'm worried about reports that Mendes is unhappy and accusing the club of "changing its attitude" towards him. With competition for places quite stiff, I suppose we're going to have to get used to good players becoming dissatisfied when they don't play for a while. That, and the nuisance of top clubs chasing our players and manager is something Spurs supporters have almost forgotten!

Robbie Keane is a good player - but i'm afraid his ratio of goals from clear chances is not so good, is it? He is often frustratingly like Andy Cole or Pippo Inzaghi - missing easy (for a supposedly top striker) scoring chances, especially in one on one situations, which he gets quite often! Admittedly he's clever enough to get into those situations, but the end product for a striker should be a goal, no?

Bad luck Mendes - just when he finally gets a game, he is out again! He MUST be getting frustrated, I should think - as Paxton Road said, a Champions League winner should not really be overlooked in favour of somebody not much better than him anyway...
But the warm hug from Jol after Mendes' substitution means hopefully he is at least not out of favour with Jol?
