y did he disallow a perfectly good goal (if ne1 was bein fouled it was gardner), not see the most blatant handball eva and book half our players 4 tackling!

I thought apart from the disallowed goal, he wasn't that bad. Lets face facts here. We had enough chances to have won this game twice over without turning on the ref. It's a shame that this was by far and away our best performance in the FA Cup this season and one that saw us go out!

At the end of the day you can call refs idiots and heap the blame on them but he called it as he saw it and I thought he got the "handball" right.

we should be proud tho of a top performance by our lads today, we outplayed them after it looked like Atouba was going to throw it away (again)..what does Jol see in Atouba???...it's a mark of our progress that we deserved to win today, it's early days under Frank and Martin but we should be optimistic in defeat when you go down with that much fight and flair..one good final ball or one good decision and we'd have had em..

Rob Styles performance today was a disgrace for English football. F.A. has to came in terms to understand that their referees are damaging the football. I´m not going to waste more time in watching English football when the referee are simply found guilty of damaging too many games. Bad decision-makings happens too frequently. Referees are protected by Peter Hackett and the F.A.

RIP English football. You are all a time waste.

What's the point??? Whatever we say will not change the fact that the shit of a ref and the majority of refs in the league have got something against us and until that problem is addressed we will continue to suffer at their hands.

well its a real shame he couldn't have got one of those decisions right... the chances of newcastle lifting the cup are very unlikely, they are really shit! they have a crap manager and a crap team/squad I wouldn't want any of there players at spurs or there manager!

I do hope they get knocked out by blackburn in the final, its the least souness deserves!

Forget the ref, how can we fail to take advantage of so much possesion, we where far superior today and the geordies know it, What we must do now is secure our place in europe next year so we can attract a couple of quality strickers coz id bet a £ to pinch of Shit that Keane & Dafoewill desert come the summer.

You cannot blame the ref - he's just one bloke with only two assistants trying to keep an eye on 22 players who will all cheat to some extent if they can get away with it and he does not have the luxury of a multitude of different camera angles. Our strikers had more than enough chances of scoring and they couldn't manage it aginst one of the premiership's best keepers who had a blinder.

uneducated Spurs fans (sorry to the others) but you don't know what you're talking about. Kluivert had a second goal ruled offside when he was clearly onside.
You had plenty of possession and should have made the most of it. Kanoute played well, but why is your tallest striker playing down the flanks and crossing for your dwarf man (who had an awful touch today).
Newcastle didn't do much attacking wise, but then Spurs didn't ask them many serious questions. Those they did, were answered by Given and his back 4.

Agree with the last post.....like so many other times this year we never looked likely to actually score...why is Kanoute on the wing crossing to the midgets...because we had no full-backs making runs...Pamarot and Atouba are not up to the job. We also need a mid-field player who can attack the goal instead of passing sideways. Newcastle were poor...we were worse

I agree with Newcastle being poor but I dont think we were worse, we had plenty of the ball and used it well but i dont think we have the player who can give that killer pass at the moment! As for Atouba well he just isn't up to the job! The Edman/Ziegler partnership is far more reliable and productive!

Kanoute was the master architect today. He's by far the best striker we have. He was playing on the right because he could out-manouver Jenas, which he did all the time. That way he avoided the towering Boumsong in the centre. It was a shame, still 9 games to go in the league!

we simply had bad luck today & a bad referee ! but we need to also start scoring more goals from midfield , there's far to much reliance on the strikers. none of our midfield players score regually !

Id like to say to the Newcastle fans and the Spurs fans that claim we made no chances, look at the Opta Stats. Given produced 2 of the best saves you're likely to see this year to deny a goal. Keane had a goal disallowed for a dubious reasons, we had shots blocked on countless occasions and a fair few saved. Apart from Newcastle's strong opening and claims for Kluiverts goal they were second in every department for the 90mins. Spurs did not have many clear cut chances but to say we created nothing is just myopic. As for Kanoute cutting out to the right, he turned Jenas inside out all day and once again showed why he is the best support player for Defoe, who, by his immaculate standards, had a poor game. And to those criticising Atouba, he struggled in the opening 5 minutes (as did Ledley King I seem to remember) and then played solidly as did our entire back 5. We were unlucky, thats football. We played better and lost and it wasn't through lack of effort or creativity.

Is anyone else getting irritated with Defoe's selfishness on the ball? he loses the ball way too often, has bad ball control, is far more selfish than any of our strikers and when he loses the ball, he just sits on the ground and yells at the referee instead of trying to win it back. He may have a good shot and pace but we always still to breakdown when the ball reaches him...

We are not gonna beat any of the top teams playing with only 3 men in midfield.......and that is what happens every time we play the welsh twat!....All these so called great midfielders we have signed and we play him......play back a video of the game....he touches the ball 3 times in the first half!!! Does shit all, lazy bastard! Only got interested for the last 15 mins!

He is a waste of time....the rest of the lads will soon get pissed off doing all his work for him......did not supply one good cross all day! Defoe needs supply...never gets it from him!

The ref was atrocious but then what do we expect. Can't remember who it was (Bowyer?) that fell on the ball and hand balled it like 3 times in the space of 5 seconds with the last one in the box.

Saw 2 clear penalties for Spurs

1 Kliuvert goal disallowed.

That ref was throwing cards at Spurs every time Robert fell over and then showing them nothing for genuine fouls.

If this was the Thai league we would all be saying he took a bung to give that match to the Toon...

Why could it not happen in the UK...

Saying that Spurs need more in midfield. Still missing those incisive balls through - Brown and Carrick not upto it. Van Bommel now!

let s face it, we have had more than our fair share of mypopic referees this season. Coincidence maybe, but if you look at Man U (home and away) Bolton (away) Chelsea (home) and now Newcastle away it starts to grate a little.

The decisions that cost us yesterday were not difficult for an experienced premiership referee. Maybe we need to start surrounding referees and intmidating them a little just like the Arse and Man U, seems to work for them.

Referees are not afraid of us and therefore do not feel so worried about making decisions against us.

However was an excellent performance by our boys, Totally outplayed Newcastle and we are gonna get better and better. Come on you Spurs.

The ref was useless. I'm sick of crap officials costing us results and being defended by the media. If we don't make it into Europe next season it will be match officials who will be largely to blame. Clattenberg and his crew were shit bottle-merchants at Old Trafford, and the same goes for Stiles yesterday. Even if he had seen the handball he wouldn't have given us a pen - a point he proved himself by disallowing Keane's equaliser because of Gardener's 'push'. Still, the media are happy as they can keep crapping on about bloody Shearer 'deserving' a trophy in his last season. 7 out of ten for Spurs, 2/10 for Stiles.

Styles is a wanker, but we always seem to be having these problems with shit refs. If we could kill a game off in the 1st place then poxy refs like Styles would not affect us so much. Atouba is the worst left back i have seen at spurs since Tramezani and my Nan was better than that prick. Edman all the way for me, massive game on wednesday, must win! Edman in for that joker, Kelly in for Poomerot and Keano in for Defoe. Come on the Yids!!!

At least Jol will be staying now. Ajax have just appointed Danny Blind as Head Coach, so that's some good news for us, although we were still robbed yesterday, and it still stings like a bastard. We need two decent attacking full-backs and probably Van Bommel to create in midfield - Carrick ain't up to the job, and as for Thimothee (Bambi on Ice) Atouba, the less said the better.

Rob Styles was a fucking disgrace. Yet another official who was wearing the home colours whilst being in charge of a spurs away match. He booked 6 of our players for 6 petty little challenges, if him and Crappenburg were dogs they would be put down. Wankers.

The papers and the FA are always banging on about refs not getting enough respect from players and the fans, it's about time they realised that shite refeering in any match, let alone crucial games, is NOT the way to go about getting that respect.

I think since the referees job was made professional it means they have more pressure on them to play by the book... when referees had other jobs as well as refereeing they had les pressure on them so they let things go a lot more...the ref at the spurs game was a disgrace, but dont blame him, blame the FA for putting soo much pressure on them to do it by the book. Lets have less heat from the FA on refs and let them go by instincts instead of what the rules say. both clubs suffered last night but we can take a positive out of the way we played for the last 70 mins...keep that up and with a few results going our way, we may sneak into europe.

I agree that the ref made some lousy decisions against us yesterday, but it's upto us to win games and with the amount of possession we had we should have at least got the draw.
Having said that think this team will get better if we can keep them together for next season.Happy to let a couple go though, Atouba is a trier but much too slow and limited to one peg.. I really rate Edman and he should be first choice every time.
Don't forget we've got Davis and mendes, both of whom i think give the midfield some bite, and maybe if fit Carrick could be given a free rein nearer the forwards. We'd soon see if he has the nouse to open a defnce up at the moment his passes are from too far back much of the time.

Assuming we keep the key players together for next season, I'd hope we can sign a really quality centre back. King is ok most of the time but we need another fast strong centre..gardner not for me.

same old sh*t different day, surely we are the most long suffering bunch of fans ever!! Ref was the biggest tw*t i have ever seen, whipping out yellow cards to every tackle we made and apparently you're allowed to hug the ball in the penalty area now?!! and why oh why does jol insist on playing atouba over edman, edman is a solid full back atouba is a long streak of p*ss. the thing that p*ssed me off most of all was after every decision the ref gave, he did a crappy little smile, if i had been anywhere near the ground after that game i would have broken his card hand and crippled his legs, then done a little smile. Still with 9 games to go lets hope spurs can secure that elusive european place that we cock up getting every season.....still, come on you spurs!!!

although decisions went blatanltly against us we cant deny that we are desperately craving a creative spark in midfield. Atouba is definately not premiership standard - so why is he playing for a supposed top club??? Carrick is a wate of space and did nothing yesterday. Brown isnt the greatest player but at least he runs his socks off every game. Defoe seems to be shaky in front of goal. Thats two games in a row where we've created clear cut chances for him and yet he cant put the ball in the net. Once again i feel Europe is slipping through our fingers. Gotta beat Charlton and City and go on a run. Its still possible but knowing spurs i got a feeling i know wats going to happen. still KEEP THE FAITH

it always seems when we get to the final hurdle we falter, every time we get close in a big game something goes wrong, yesterday was a perfect example
the man u game was another and yes the ref was wrong on both days but why cant we get any further than nearly, seems to me we hav suffered from some sort of curse for the last decade
my money is on the 2 points dropped in the man u game will cost us a place in europe at the end of the season, soooooo tempted 2 put a bet on us finishing 7th by a point!!!

It's no good blaming the ref. WE should have created and taken our chances. The barcodes were well below par, but they had a European game a few days before (remember those days guys?) and a better performance should have seen us at least bring them back to the Lane.

Being a champion, gooner, witness to a championship being won at Shite Hart Lane last year, I almost forgot how good it feels to see Spurs lose a big game. Spurs aren't involved in many after all. The point I want to make is that when you watch the Champions Home and Away each week, you get to see us stuffing team for 90mins but not getting the result because of bad luck or due to playing against an 11 man team (spurs).

Yes, you domintated yesterday and yes you were unlucky.

2 things for your brainless minds to consider before you start talking about the glory days returning:

1) Newcastle were/are shit.
2) They have played 7 games in 25 days. They were shattered.

It has been a dissapoiniting year for the biggest club in London after failing to retain the league, but the fact that it could have been the mighty Spurs in Chelsea shoes still makes me smile.

Small team in Arsenal x x x

I dont get how spurs can have so many fuckin stupid fans, and they always seem to be seated round me at WHL! Atouba isn't great, but he's better than Edman. Edman's one of the most cautious and mediocre players we have, he just doesn't really do anything. He's slow, doesn't get forward much and seems to be living off his cross for Larsson in Euro 2004! Which he hasn't even nearly done anything like for us. I'm not defending Atouba really, i'm just a bit baffled by the reputation Edman seems to have on all these fan sites. I think the first thing we need is a right-back who is actually comfortable on the ball, Pamarot looked better in the middle and Kelly still looks nervous i think.
