Defeated by 12 man Bolton

Once again a cheating ref helped Spurs to a third straight defeat in what was otherwise quite a promising performance. We have now dropped points away to Manchester United, home to Chelsea and now to Bolton thanks to the ref. However, our fair share of mistakes and dodgy team selections also helped.

First half was a rather drab affair with little to talk about except we went in with a clean sheet. The ref then struck at the start of the second half. Edman was impeded and the ball hit his hand - a clear ball to hand scenario but the incompetent fool gave the penalty. A few minutes later the ball struck a Bolton player's arm from a free kick but the inconsistent idiot failed to award a penalty. King and Kanoute were so incensed by the complete lack of consistancy that they both received yellow cards. "Oh well" you may say but this had repercussions later on.

Defoe, our top scorer, came on and promptly scored after good work by Robinson and Keane. Kanoute then made a dumb challenge with two feet, knowing he was already on a yellow and got himself sent off. Well done.

More useless rubbish then happened as Gardner and Robinson were all over the place giving away a corner which Bolton then scored from and then the world's most skillful left back, Atouba, gave possession away and the game was all over.

Now this does sound like a scathing match report but apparently Spurs didn't play too badly. However we continue to make mistakes and you cannot do that in the Premiership. The squad was rightly expanded in the transfer window and I think we now have enough cover to loose Gardner asap as he just isn't cut out for the job anymore. Left back cover is also required so Atouba can go back to wherever he came from as I'm sick of his dumb antics playing us into trouble. He has got away with it in the past but not yesterday and his mistake killed us off. Jol also needs to look at his team selection. If Terry Henry can play virtually every game then so can Defoe. When he came on we had a total of zero shots on target and by the end of the game we had two. Not a great reflection on our strikers or the build up play by the midfield.

Kanoute is now suspended for the Portsmouth game so Mido may start, hopefully with Defoe. Ried can go left wing and Atouba can go where he likes, but just not near the team.

COYS!

what i can say is its not the fault of the defence if
the team cannot win the game, you cant blame individual player but you blame the all team my oppinion is instead of buying players for the future lets buy players that can contribute to the team know then buy players for the future later i have noticed that spurs dont have the killer instint most teams have example rooney and van, henry and begkamp there is defoe but keane and kanoute only score an average of 1 goal per two to three games. the midfield has no goal scorer other teams have scholes and giggs, pires and ljunburgno and no one can even dribble the wing play is definatly not there other teams have robben and duff not forgeting ronaldo and giggs so lets utilies the players we have bought this year (mido, reid, dawson,el hamdoui) and creat a more improved spur so that other clubs can kiss themselves good bye.

Disappointing start to the year after such a good run. hopefully with all the new signings we can get some grit and drive in midfield and some width. Gardner should seriously consider becoming one!

Bolton fan reading your comments.

You huffed and you puffed but did you really get anywhere near?! Our goal lifted you if anything and the two late goals sealed it!

Bless 'em all, bless 'em all, the long and the short and the tall, we'll never be mastered by no cockney bastards (Arsenal Chelsea West Ham Charlton all included - they never win at the Reebok) so come on you lads bless 'em all!

Not a recent song, one we have been singing against you in the last five Premeirship (and the draws) games against you!!!!!!!! OK you beat our reserves in extra time in the Mickey Mouse cup.

Keep spending that money - the donkey society at Blackpool appreciates your donations!!!

Cheers!

I think Dean`s half German. How the hell that penalty was given when Erik clearly headed the ball onto his OWN arm, and excuse me the Bolton defender(who?) in the wall was doing a krankies impersonation wasn`t he?

We should remonstrate more on t.v(Frank and Martin)and then maybe we`d get the `equality` Chelsea are after!

What's with the dropping of Mendes and Naybet from even the squad for the second game in a row? I can't find any news on this, and can't understand the decision! Mendes is probably the most consistent midfield player we have, and with more quality than Brown, for sure.
Another thing: after Brown - Reid, Dawson, the young guy from Derby...Do we really need more from the average 1st Division sides - are they really going to improve Spurs, whose aim is supposed to be to break into top 6 and eventually into a consistent Champions League position?

I just can't understand why everyone goes for Gardner. Can someone explain what he does wrong?

Mendes and Naybet were injured, you fool. Martin Jol's not a idiot. If they were available, they'd have been on the teamsheet.

Thanks for an answer re Mendes and Naybet situation, to the pompous jerk, who feels the need to be abusive when someone just wanted some clarification from his fellow spurs fans.

I dind't know if they were injured or if there was another reason. Anyway, half fit Naybet and Mendes should be better than fit Gardner and anonymous Brown!

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, jerk - so just because you may have heard something that another person has not doesn't entitle you to feeling superior, ok?
