"It is better to fail aiming high than to succeed aiming low. And we of Spurs have set our sights very high, so high in fact that even failure will have in it an echo of glory." Bill Nicholson. SPURS

Lost again.

6 defeats in a row - 6, that's right 6, we've lost 6 in a row and play 'Boro on Sunday. Not all was bad with the Spurs performance but I've been saying this for a while and I'd take a couple of real lousy piss poor performances where we somehow score a goal and steal the points like the Everton game earlier in the season.

The confidence is now dropping like a lead balloon at Spurs are we MUST get something out of the 'Boro game to stop the rot. The squad is still better than we have had in recent years but football is a lot to do with confidence. The scum play with confidence and is one of the reasons they went on that 49 game run. Everton are another example - confidence is running through what in my opinion is an average bunch of players and look where they are with a bit of motivation.

The 1st half was very even and Brown should of scored but the ball slipped away from him meaning he couldn't get the power he needed behind it. Defoe had a good run and should of tested the keeper. The second half Spurs were on top for the first ten minutes and were starting to put the pressure on until we were undone by Solano. It was a very good goal but why was Atouba the wrong side of him when he should of been much closer. Atouba just doesn't have it more often than not giving the ball away. He's not the only one mind and I must of seen at least 15 simple passes go straight to a Villa player under no pressure whatsoever. Mendes looked lost on the right and should either play centre midfield or not at all. After the Villa goal the stuffing was knocked out of us and only Kanoute had any real effort with a header over the bar when it should of been in the back of the net. The performance was average, not awful so I suppose it's something to cling onto.

Keep the faith Yids, It can only get better. I hope. Please.

FOOTBALL IS ABOUT NOW!!! GREAT IF WE CAN BE GOOD IN THE FUTURE, BUT IF WE DONT PUT IT RIGHT NOW THEN THERE IS NO FUTURE.
HOW MANY NEW, AND FALSE DAWNS DO WE HAVE TO EXPERIANCE.
I KNOW HOW NEGETIVE THIS SEEMS, BUT THIS IS THE COLD HARD TRUTH.WE ARE VERY AVERAGE, NOT GETTING BETTER WITH GAMES, AND GETTING PERILESSLY CLOSE TO THE DROP AGAIN.
WHERE`S GILLINGHAM.

What can I say ? Again we lose but I think we were unlucky considering we had a clear penalty not given. The key elements are there for us to be successful but there seems to be something missing. The missing element is LUCK. Just a bit of luck and we will be on our way.

I really feel that on Sun we will beat Boro and this will kick start our season.

In terms of the squad we could still do with several players. I think that tall Norwegian forward will be a great target man for us. Get rid of Kanoute as he can not concentrate for the whole 90 mins.

I have been a Spurs fan since 1967 so I know a bit about suffering. tonight the midfield was nowhere. Brown just isn't good enough and now we know why Santini didn't want Carrick. God knows what would have happened if it wasn't for Robinson.

Jol says he was not down hearted after the match perhaps he will be when we are relagated. On paper there are some great players in that side but who is going to mould them into a team and bring some steel to midfield.

An inevitable air of expectation was around me before we played Villa tonight....and it wasn't the smell of victory....I knew we were going to lose. We just don't look like we're even going to get a draw out of games at the moment.
I cannot see us beating Boro on Sunday either- confidence is non-existent. When we pick players like Atouba and Naybet in the starting eleven we are screwed from the start! Naybet was a bad signing in the summer as he was clearly past it a few years ago. Atouba is just simpy crap.
As for Mendes on right.....WHAT?!? Why not have Davies on the right with Carrick, Mendes in central midfield and Ziegler on the left?
I also think that we should have started with Keane, Kanoute and Defoe up front with Keane playing just behind Kanoute and Defoe. Pamarot, King and Edman in our defence as a three and we have a half decent team and formation to play with.
However, we have to get something out of Sunday, and I don't give a toss if we have to put each and every outfield player on the goal-line...........we cannot concede any more goals!!!!I dont care if its a goaless draw but we need a point (or three.......wishful thinking) in our next game. If we don't we may as well pack up and head down to the Championship.

I know its cold comfort, but we were the better team last night, and we lost. Its a bad time for it to happen to us, but it happens. Everton must have felt much the same way after we beat them. I thought Brown, Atouba and especially Kanoute all played well, as did Ziegler after he came on. The disappointment was Defoe, and Keane just didn't spark when he came on. Their goal was a bit freakish ... you just can't practice keeping those out. The Kanoute header that shaved the post was desperately unfortunate, and Brown had a great chance in the first half, but he lost his footing. On another day we would have won this. We must keep faith, stand firm behind the team and, whatever we do, don't panic! The biggest danger is that our confidence is rock bottom, but our luck must turn.
